Robert Barner

Robert “Tony” Barner, 37, of Dubuque, was called home on February 28, 2018 at Finley Hospital.
Friends may greet the family from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday March 10, 2018 at Hoffmann Schneider Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1640 Main St., Dubuque, where there will be a service at 12 p.m.
Tony was born November 1, 1980 in Chicago, IL, the son of Robert Harrison and Catherine Barner.
Tony was an avid poker player who could often be seen at the Mystique Casino. He enjoyed cooking, anime, and Batman.
Tony was a devoted father who loved spending time with his kids. He was everyone’s best friend and confidante, always there to offer advice (good or bad). Tony was the life of every party with his amazing sense of humor and his charming and addictive personality. Tony was very handsome and he knew it! He never missed a chance for a selfie.
He is survived by many friends who were like family to him. Tony is also survived by three children, Giovanni, Te’ana, and Xavion; his lifelong best friend and mother of his children, Misty Barner; his siblings, Stephen (Kailee) and Dorian (Lisa) Harrison, both of Dubuque, Jewel (Larry) Polson, and Willie and Wayne Alexander, all of Des Moines; his niece Ava; his nephews Sean, Jayden, Dorian Jr., Roman and Raiden; and a sister in law Holly Livermore.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ayende Nelson; and his best friend, Brian Otting.
