Robert E. “Bob” Barton, age 68, of Mauston, Wisconsin, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024, after a valiant battle against cancer with his loving family beside him.  To honor Bob’s life, family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m., on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, Dubuque, Iowa.  Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday at Behr Funeral Home, with Deacon David Roth officiating.  Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Bob was born on May 13, 1955, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Raymond and Rosella (Heacock) Barton.

Bob graduated high school and lived in Dubuque for several years before moving to Mauston in 1988.  He married Memory Mauer on April 10, 1981, in Dubuque.  They raised their family together and celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary last year.  Bob was always a hard worker providing for his family.  He worked as a mechanic for Northside Mobile in Mauston for 27 years until health issues led to his early retirement in 2015.  Bob loved being in the great outdoors and camping was his true passion.  He also regularly attended sporting events for the kids and grandkids.  Bob was a talented cook and always made sure everyone had enough to eat. He especially enjoyed taking the grandchildren out for adventures and was famous for his ability to break in to an appropriate song for any situation.  Bob was diligent about doing online research before a purchase and was very thrifty, having a coupon for almost everything they bought.  He loved his family more than life itself and would do anything he possibly could for them.  Bob was very loved and we will miss him tremendously.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Mark Kane; his fathers-in-law, Stan Mauer and Raymond Entringer; and a brother-in-law, Vincent “Butch” Mauer.

The family would like to thank everyone who has helped Bob with his fight against cancer these past years.  He truly appreciated your care and compassion more than you will ever know.  Bob’s famous quote was as follows, “If you must hate, hate cancer”.
