Robert P. “Bob” Sadler, 81, of Cascade, Iowa, passed away, Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade, Iowa surrounded by his family.
Friends and relatives of Bob may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, January 31, 2019 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, Iowa, where a wake service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friends may also call after 9 a.m., Friday at the funeral home.
Services for Bob will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 1, 2019 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa with Very Rev. Mark Ressler Presiding. Msgr. Wayne Ressler and Rev. Loras Otting will be concelebrating. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Cascade, Iowa with full military honors afforded by the Cascade American Legion Post #528.
He was born April 23, 1937 in Cascade, Iowa, son of John Joseph and Laurene C. (Koob) Sadler. He was a graduate of the former St. Mary’s School in Cascade, Iowa. On June 19, 1965 he was united in marriage to Shirley Johnson at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She preceded him in death on December 15, 2018.
Bob enjoyed working on vehicles in the garage, a good card game, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Bob was employed as a Chevrolet mechanic at Cascade Motor Sales for 29 years. He later was employed at Webber Metals in Cascade until his retirement in 2002. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran having served as an Airman 1st class from 1959-1964.
He was a member of St. Matthias Parish in Cascade and a member of the Cascade American Legion Post #528 for which he served as Past Commander in 1974.
He is survived by four children, Michael (Amanda) Sadler of Frisco, TX, William (Jill) Sadler of Durand, IL, Terence Sadler of Warroad, MN and Kathy (Joe) Bargo of Iowa City, IA; 7 grandchildren, Robbie Sadler, Emily Sadler, Abby Sadler, Ryann Sadler, Katelyn Bargo, Lauren Bargo and Megan Bargo; 3 siblings, Charles (Jeanne) Sadler of Cascade, IA, Clifford (Judy) Sadler of Rose Creek, MN and Carol (Chuck) McGowan of Hiawatha, IA.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, John Sadler.
