Roger E. Nank
Roger E. Nank, 85, of Asbury, died Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at the Unity Point Health-Finley Hospital in Dubuque.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Roger will be at 10:30 am on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Church of the Resurrection with Father Phil Gibbs as the Celebrant. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Dubuque.
Roger was born August 21, 1940, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Carl and Rose (Spiker) Nank. On May 18, 1963, he married Jane Splinter in St. Mary’s Church in East Dubuque, IL.
He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1958. Roger served in the United States Army from 1961 until 1962 and then the Army Reserves until 1965.
He worked in the tool room at John Deere for 36 years. After retiring from John Deere, he worked at Mt. Carmel for 7 years and at Starforce for 16 years.
Roger was a member of Church of the Resurrection and the UAW Local #94. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, card playing, and doing woodworking projects. He also found great joy in every meal, especially when it was shared with family. Roger had a warm heart and an open spirit, no one was ever a stranger to him and his laughter was unmistakable to all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Jane of Dubuque; four children, Elizabeth Nank of Overland Park, KS, Paul (Tauni) Nank of Wichita, KS, Greg (Karen) Nank of Peosta, IA, and Jason (Brenda) Nank of Dubuque; 14 grandchildren, Andrew (Sydney) Feipel, Jake (Hannah) Feipel, Nicole (Keith) Nelson, Thesesa (Austin) Robichaux, Sarah Nank, Matthew Nank, Isaas Nank, Ashley (Jesse) Streid, Max (Katelynn) Nank, Alex (Sarah) Nank, Peter Nank, Charlie Nank, Ashley Nank, and Alissa Nank; 11 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Joann Nank and Barbara Nank both of Kansas City, KS; three siblings-in-law, Virgil Splinter, Marilyn Splinter, Jenelda “Nelli” Splinter; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Roger was preceded in death by three brothers, Stanley, Paul, and Carl (Sharon) Nank; one sister, Juanita Nank; and four siblings-in-law, Fred Splinter, John (Marie) Splinter, Rose Apel, and Eugene Splinter.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to Dr. Nelson and his nurse, Rose, for all of their compassionate care.
