Ronald G. Dix
Ronald G. “Ron” Dix, 87, of East Dubuque, IL, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2025 at Unity Point-Finley Hospital in Dubuque, IA.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025 at the Miller Funeral Home in East Dubuque, where the parish scripture service will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday. A visitation will be held on Saturday at St. Mary’s Church in East Dubuque from 9:30 – 10:15 a.m., where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, with Fr. Bosco Aruldoss officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Dubuque, IA., where military honors will be accorded by members of American Legion Post # 787 of East Dubuque.
Ron was born on September 20, 1938 in Dubuque, IA, the son of Leo M. and Dolores M. (Hefel) Dix. He graduated from Loras Academy in 1956. Ron served in the U.S. Air Force from January 15, 1957 to January 13, 1961.
He was employed at John Deere Dubuque Works retiring on April 30, 1995 after 31 years of service. Ron enjoyed gardening, fishing, meeting with his buddies at Burger King and hanging out at Slaats Auto Repair in East Dubuque. Ron was a huge Iowa Hawkeyes fan., and a former of UAW Local
# 94.
Surviving are his children, Michael Dix of Adel, IA, Michele Brigham of Madison, WI, Jeffery Dix and James (Christine) Dix both of Dubuque, IA; seven grandchildren, Kristi, Alex, Jenny, Jessicca, Cooper, Preston and Paxton; four great-grandchildren, Owen, Theo, Ethan and Andi; siblings, Jeanettte (Dean) Rampson of Dubuque, Bill (Patti) Dix of Dubuque, Linda (Dick) Firzlaff of Dubuque, Judy Dix of Dubuque, Marilyn Dix of Dubuque, Shirley Youngblut of Spirit Lake, IA, Alan (Sue) Dix of Dubuque, Carol (Joe) Powers of Dubuque, and Cheryl (Chuck) Noel of Asbury, IA, in-laws, Bob Hammel and Patricia Dix, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Ron in death were his parents, Leo and Dolores, siblings, Bob Dix, Patricia Freihoefer, Daryl Dix, Mary in infancy, Joyce Hammel, Barbara Cummer, Richard “Pup” Dix and Dorothy Koltes.
In lieu of flowers a Ronald G. Dix memorial fund has been established.
Ron’s family would like to give special thanks to the East Dubuque Fire Department, and Finley Hospital ER and Cardiac team.
