Roy L. Krum
Roy L. Krum, 69, loving husband, dad, and grandfather, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at MercyOne Clinton Medical Center in Clinton, Iowa.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11 A.M., Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. A gathering of family and friends will be held immediately following the service from Noon to 2 P.M. in “The Bistro” at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Cremation has taken place, and burial will be at a later date.
Roy Leon Krum was born on November 5, 1952 in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Elmer Leon and Fanny Marie (Cox) Krum. He grew up in the Mount Pleasant, Iowa area and served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1970 to 1972, earning an honorable discharge. He married Denise “Dee” Williams on December 6, 1980 in Miles, Iowa. Roy and Dee were blessed with two sons from this union.
Roy had worked as a mechanic and over-the-road semi-truck driver for various companies over the years. He loved fishing for catfish and working on remote control vehicles. Additionally, he loved working as a mechanic on boats, cars and lawn mowers. If he wasn’t out fishing, he was working in his garage on a multitude of projects.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Denise “Dee” Krum of Maquoketa, IA; sons, Bobby (Heidi) Krum of Amber, IA, and Joe (Summer) Krum of Amber, IA; three children from a previous relationship, Barbie, Mark and David; 5 grandchildren; and a sister, Parthenia Michael “Mike” (Brian) Ehlers of Davenport, IA; and he was also embraced by Dee’s parents, sisters, and families. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters Barbara Bennett and Velvet Krum, and one in infancy.
