Sharon C. Troester

Sharon C. Troester, 75, of Guttenberg, Iowa, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Stonehill Health Facility in Dubuque, Iowa.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 4 – 8 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Thunder Hills Country Club in Peosta, Iowa.

A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Guttenberg, Iowa.

Sharon was born on October 25, 1950, in Guttenberg, Iowa, daughter of Kenneth and Leona (Adams) Walters. She married Orrin John “Tracey” Troester On June 13, 1970, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Guttenberg. In the years to come they were then blessed with three daughters: Shelli, Paula & Natalie.

Sharon worked at Ertl Toy Company for many years before later working at Kann Manufacturing until her retirement. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who treasured her family and especially enjoyed getting everyone together. Sharon and her husband, Orrin, enjoyed fine dining and frequenting supper clubs.  She enjoyed spending time together visiting and enjoying the fellowship of family and friends.

Sharon’s Catholic faith was an important part of her life. She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and proudly sang in the St. Mary’s choir for many years. Her faith provided her with strength and guidance throughout her life.

Sharon’s bubbly personality could bring a smile to anyone.  She was so caring and thoughtful and enjoyed writing and sending cards to random family and friends.  Sharon also enjoyed her grand-puppies, Harley, Tiger, Cooper and Oliver.

She is survived by her children: Shelli & Tim Peppmeier of Peosta, (sons Ryan & Chad), Paula & Dennis Conrad of Epworth, Natalie Troester (Danny Garcia) of Franklin, WI; grandchildren: Courtney Kress (Kody Neels)  and step-grandchild, Marissa Conrad; siblings: Carol Smith and Steve & Dee Walters; and sister-in-law, Christa Walters.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orrin, parents, Kenneth & Leona Walters and in-laws, LaVerne and Lorna Troester; siblings: Ronnie Walters, Sandra Gebhardt; and brother-in-law, Bill Smith.

The family would like to thank the staff at Stonehill Health Facility for their wonderful care of Sharon over the years.
