Sister Jeanne Granville, BVM

Sister Jeanne Granville, BVM (Suzette), 90, of 1130 Carmel Drive, Dubuque, Iowa, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2018, at Caritas Center.

Visitation will from 9:00-10:15 a.m. on Monday, June 18, 2018, at the Marian Hall Chapel, Dubuque, Iowa, followed immediately by a Sharing of Memories and Mass of Christian Burial. Burial is in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Sister Jeanne was director of North Deanery Catholics elementary schools in the Archdiocese of St. Louis and coordinator/director of social outreach programs in St. Louis. She was an elementary principal in Chicago; Calumet Park, Ill.; St. Louis; Crestwood, Mo.; and Jackson, Miss. She was an elementary teacher in Chicago; Maywood, Ill.; Round Lake, Ill.; and Hempstead, N.Y.

She was born in St. Louis, Mo., on May 6, 1928, to William and Mary Helen McKean Granville. She entered the BVM congregation Sept. 8, 1947, from St. Mary Magdelen Parish, St. Louis, Mo. She professed first vows on March 19, 1950, and final vows on Aug. 15, 1955.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Mary Helen Bayless and Mary Elizabeth (Bette) Sly; brothers William and John. She is survived by nieces, nephews, and the Sisters of Charity, BVM, with whom she shared life for 70 years.
