Sr. Elizabeth Huber, BVM

Sister Elizabeth Huber, BVM, (Elizabeth Mary), 91, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2025, at Mount Carmel Bluffs -Gables in Dubuque, Iowa.

Visitation will be from 9-9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2025, in the Mary Frances Clarke Chapel at Mount Carmel Bluffs. Sharing of Memories will be at 9:30 a.m. followed immediately by the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in the Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Sister Elizabeth was born May 15, 1934, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Max and Elizabeth (Beaulieu) Huber. She entered the BVM congregation Sept. 8, 1955, from St. Boniface Parish, Sioux City, Iowa. She professed first vows on Feb. 3, 1958, and final vows on July 16, 1963.

Sister Elizabeth was an instructor at Clarke University, Dubuque, Iowa, and Briar Cliff College in Sioux City, Iowa.  She served as a secondary mathematics teacher at Heelan HS in Sioux City, Iowa; Our Lady of Peace in St Paul, Minn.; and Ryan HS in Omaha, Nebr. She also was a teacher for the Guadalupe Area Project in West Saint Paul, Minn., and the Art & Spirituality City Academy in Mendota Heights, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Robert (Barbara) and Rev. Leo Huber. She is survived by two nieces, a nephew, and the Sisters of Charity, BVM, with whom she shared life for 69 years.

Miller Funeral Home, 1185 Hwy 35N, East Dubuque, Ill., is in charge of arrangements.
