Sister Mary Dolores Moes, PBVM, (formerly Sister Mary Roger) 94, died on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Sisters of the Presentation (Mount Loretto), 2360 Carter Road, Dubuque, Iowa.

 On Tuesday, September 29, 2026, friends may call from 9:30 – 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, Sisters of the Presentation, where there will be a wake service at 9:30 a.m. and funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West.

Sister Mary Dolores, daughter of Dr. Alvin and Edith (Kruse), was born Dolores Ann Moes on May 27, 1932, in Dubuque, Iowa.  She entered the Sisters of the Presentation on August 22, 1950, and professed her perpetual vows on June 8, 1956.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Clarke College (now Clarke University) and attended the University of Wisconsin at Platteville for further education. Sister Dolores served as an elementary teacher in Catholic schools in Dubuque, Osage, and Waukon, Iowa, and in Oak Lawn, Illinois; as an elementary principal in Algona and Lawler, both in Iowa; as house coordinator, retirement coordinator and in the skilled care unit for her congregation; as pastoral associate in parishes in Buffalo Center, Forest City and Lake Mills, all in Iowa; and upon her retirement, at Seventh Heaven, a residence for the elderly in Dubuque. She retired to Mount Loretto in 2008 and celebrated her 75th Jubilee in 2025. She enjoyed writing letters, nature, walking, working with the poor and elderly, sacristy work, working with the Right to Life Organization and music. She valued prayer and community service. Sister Dolores was grateful for her life – for over 70 years as a Presentation Sister; for the countless blessings she received as she served God’s people; for the community that guided her and all the sisters who were part of it, and for the foundress Nano Nagle.

Surviving are her sister-in-law, Lillie Moes, nieces, nephews, and the Sisters of the Presentation with whom she shared her life for 76 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Roger.
