Sister Ruth (Lucian) Fagan, 90, of Dubuque, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

Visitation will be at Clare House Chapel, Mount St. Francis Center from 10:00-11:30 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2026 followed by Funeral Mass at Clare House Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Guests unable to attend may participate via livestream at: www.youtube.com/dubuquefranciscans Burial of cremains will be at a later date at the Sisters of St. Francis natural burial site.

Ruth was born on February 28, 1936 in Zwingle, IA to Francis and Florence (Collins) Fagan.

Ruth entered the Sisters of St. Francis August 25, 1953 and made final profession of vows August 12, 1959. Sister received her masters degree in religious education from St. Thomas University, Houston, TX. She ministered in Iowa at Templeton, Jefferson, and in Dubuque at Sacred Heart, Archdiocesan Center, Mount St. Francis Center, and Stonehill Care Center; in Minnesota at Minneapolis and St. Cloud; and in Georgia at Hiawassee and Cleveland.

Sister is survived by her sister-in-law, Lou Ann (Burkle) Fagan, nieces, nephews, and her Franciscan sisters.

Sister was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Marie (David) Thier and Jeanne Fagan, and brother, Joe Fagan.
