Sue A. Donovan
Sue Ann Donovan, 59, of Dubuque, died Thursday, October 12, 2023, at the Unity Point Health-Finley Hospital in Dubuque.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until 10:45 am on Monday, October 16, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Key West.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Sue will be 11:00 am Monday, October 16, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Key West with Rev. Monsignor Thomas E. Toale as the Celebrant.
Sue was born August 21, 1964, in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Floyd and Lu (Kirshbaum) Thompson. On August 21, 1992, she married Michael “Spike” Donovan in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Key West.
Sue graduated from Wahlert High School and went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree from Loras College. Sue loved spending time on the river, fishing and waterskiing. She also enjoyed canning, going to the casino and playing euchre.
Survivors include her husband, Michael “Spike” Donovan of Dubuque; her brother, Robert (Bette) Thompson of East Dubuque, IL; her sister, Marsha (Dennis) Wieser of Hazel Green, WI; father and mother-in-law, Ron (Pat) Donovan of Dubuque; and siblings-in-law, Ann Curoe of Bernard; Rose (Mark) Hoerner of Dubuque; Joan (Gene) Kies of LaMotte; Beth (Steve) Timmerman of Dubuque; Patrick (Jennifer) Donovan of Peosta; and Brian (Shelly) Donovan of Dubuque; and numerous nieces & nephews..
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Curt Curoe.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and all of the staff in the ICU at Finley Hospital.
