Timothy “Tim” Wayne Folsom, 66, of Dubuque Iowa, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025, at home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Per his wishes, he will be cremated, and a private celebration of life will be held. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, is assisting the family

Tim was born on April 21, 1959, to Wayne Folsom and Joan (Scheffert) Folsom-Hanson. He graduated from Hempstead High School in 1977. Tim attended Northeast Iowa Community College and later worked for C.L. Swanson, Francois Masonry, and Eagle Window & Doors. He found his calling working for Paramount Ambulance where he transported clients with care and support, providing the occasional laugh in true Tim fashion. He retired from Paramount in March of 2025.

Tim has two beautiful daughters from a previous marriage, Hillary & Jodi, both of Cedar Rapids. In 2011 Tim married the love of his life, Kim Wong. To their family they were fondly referred to as the “im’s”. Together they enjoyed sitting in their yard by a fire and watching nature. Those who knew Tim will remember him singing karaoke, quoting movies, impersonating actors, and cracking jokes. He loved watching sports and supporting his nieces and nephews in their athletic endeavors. Tim was an avid John Wayne fan, loved a good card or board game, and dancing. Dedicated to weightlifting, he was known for his big muscles and strength. To the very end, his toughness and grit shined through as he fought his battle. We know he is at peace and hopefully eating all the Doritos and BLT pizzas in Heaven.

Tim is survived by his wife, Kim; daughters, Hillary (Matt) Carlson, and Jodi both of Cedar Rapids, IA; mother, Joan Hanson of Dubuque; sisters Cindy Folsom, and Tina (Dave) Adams, all of Dubuque; brother Lance (Karen) Hanson of Shawnee, KS; sisters Pam (Art) Munoz of Mooresville, NC, Carla Scarpaci of Yuma, AZ, and Lisa Folsom of Santee, CA; sister-in-law Melynn (Dave) Davis of Dubuque, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his fathers, Wayne Folsom & Eugene “Huck” Hanson.

In lieu of flowers, a Timothy Folsom Memorial Fund has been established.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Herman, the University of Iowa doctors and staff, the first responders of Dubuque and Leonard Funeral Home for their compassion and care.
