Tom Oeschger
Tom Oeschger, 82, of Cascade Iowa passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026 at Riverbend Retirement Community Center -Moments Memory Care in Cascade Iowa.
Visitation for Tom will be held from 9 to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church Cascade, Iowa, where the Cascade Fire Department will meet in a body at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial for Tom will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Michael Schueller presiding. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Cascade, Iowa. The Reiff funeral home in Cascade, Iowa is in charge of arrangements
Tom was born April 8, 1943 in Cascade, Iowa son of John and Edna (Steger) Oeschger. He received his education at St. Martin’s School Cascade, Iowa. On September 4, 1967, he was united in marriage to Jean “Sis” (Kramer) at the Basilica of Saint Francis Xavier in Dyersville.
He worked at the family-owned Oeschger Food Mart as a meat cutter, was employed by John Deere in Dubuque for 30 years and was a volunteer fireman in Cascade for 34 years.
Tom was a very devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed trips to the casino, fishing, camping and drag car racing with his brothers. He had a strong faith and was a member of St. Matthias Parish in Cascade.
Tom enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and games shows on TV. The Price is Right was one of his favorites.
He is survived by his two daughters Amy (Denny) Green of Cascade and Jen (Marty) Hoeger of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren Kayleigh( Ryan) Mack, Abby (Pat) Fagan, Alison (Adam) Kruse, Jack, Ben, and Ella Hoeger; five great grandchildren Theo, Owen and Nolan Fagan, Stella and Stetson Kruse; two brothers, Bob (Julie) Oeschger of Cascade and John Oeschger of Tallahassee Fl; his brother and sister-in-law’s Steve (Rose) Kramer of Dubuque, Maria Oeschger, and several nieces and nephews.
He was proceded in death by his parents, John and Edna Oeschger, father and mother-in-law Willard and Agnes (Kruse) Kramer; Aunt Verna Steger; brother David Oeschger; brother and sister-in-law’s Janet (Denny) Mulvehill, Linda (Jim) Theis; nephew Steve Mulvehill.
The family would like to extend gratitude for the excellent care that was provided by Riverbend Retirement Community, Hospice of Dubuque, Cascade Family Health Center and Medical Associates Clinic.
