Virgil A. Polkinghorn Jr., age 47, of Dubuque, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 4, 2022, at MercyOne Dubuque.  To celebrate Virgil’s life, private family services were held. Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, is assisting the family.  Burial is in Linwood Cemetery.

Virgil was born on September 25, 1974, in Iowa City, son of Virgil and Carol (Krolick) Polkinghorn Sr.

Virgil attended school in Dubuque and graduated from Platteville High School in 1992.

Virgil was a diehard Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed fishing with his Dad.

Those left to cherish Virgil’s memory include his

two children,
Maryann Vondra-Polkinghorn and Virgil Allan Vondra-Polkinghorn, III;

his mother,
Carol (Francis) Polkinghorn Paar, Dubuque, IA;

and his siblings,
Charles Polkinghorn,
Tammie Krier,
Michael (Sue) Polkinghorn,
Stephanie Robinson, all of Dubuque
and Patrick Polkinghorn, Denver, CO.

Virgil was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father, Virgil Polkinghorn Sr.; a sister, October Dawn Johnson; and 2 brothers, Mark and Todd Polkinghorn.
