Ginny was born March 4, 1929, to George and Alexandria Ketoff, immigrants from Bulgaria who settled in Dubuque to raise their family. Ginny lived in Dubuque most of her life and held a deep and special love for the city she called home. She grew up in St. Anthony’s Parish and treasured many fond memories of her childhood. She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1947.
Ginny worked for the telephone company, Dubuque Packing Co., and eventually retired from Sears. She genuinely enjoyed each of the roles she held. She loved traveling, playing cards, listening to music and dancing. Ginny enjoyed spending her mornings at the YMCA where she found both and exercise and many lasting friendships.
Ginny married Clarence “Sid” Sedbrook on September 30, 1950. Together, they adopted and lovingly raised two daughters: Julie (Lonny) Davis of North Liberty, IA, and Nancy (Chris) Frommelt of Bonita Springs, FL. Her family was the center of her world. She was blessed with five grandchildren: Jenny Davis, Andrea Davis, Alexander (Cindy) Frommelt, Sarah Virginia (Justin) LeBlanc, and Samuel (Amanda) Frommelt; and six great-grandchildren-Bryce, Tori, Carter, Charlie, James, and Max-each of whom brought her immense pride, joy, and countless cherished moments.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband; her parents; her brother, Dr. George Ketoff; his wife, Barbara; and her husband’s parents.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Ginny’s warmth, generosity and feisty spirit touched many lives and will be remembered always. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
