Wanda L. Rockwell
Wanda Lee Rockwell, 92, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, January 15, 2026, at Maquoketa Care Center in Maquoketa, Iowa.
Wanda Lee Garretson was born on January 31, 1933, in Jackson County, Iowa, to Kenneth “Buck” and Winona (Sutton) Garretson. She attended country schools in Jackson County, and graduated from Maquoketa High School. She married Donald Alyn Rockwell on June 3, 1951 at the Garretson Family Farm in rural Jackson County. Four children were born to this union, Sharon Lee, Lynne Ann, Donald Wayne, and Warren Glenn.
Prior to her marriage, Wanda was employed at Jackson State Bank in Maquoketa. After marrying Donald, she embraced the role of a farm wife, raising their children and working alongside her husband to manage the family farm.
Wanda was a member of the Community of Christ Church (formerly known as the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints). She enjoyed sewing, gardening, quilting, farming, and traveling to the Western states. She especially loved the Teton Range and Rocky Mountains.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Donald Rockwell of Maquoketa, IA; a son, Warren Rockwell of Maquoketa, IA; 5 grandchildren, Kristina (Ryan) Ihrig, Tyler (Hali) Rockwell, Dustin (Jenn) Derganz, Cody Rockwell, and Agatha Derganz; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three children, Lynne Rockwell, Sharon Derganz, and Donald Wayne Rockwell, and a sister Meredith Morehead.
Arrangements are pending and will be announced at a future date. Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family burial will be held at Sutton Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Wanda Lee Rockwell memorial fund has been established.
