Wayne J. Ameskamp, 62 of Dyersville, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2026, after injuries sustained in a boating accident.

Visitation for Wayne will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026, at the Reiff Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa, where a prayer service will be held at 1:30 p.m.  Visitation will also be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial for Wayne will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the Basilica of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Dyersville, Iowa with Rev. presiding. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Dyersville, Iowa.

Wayne was born October 15, 1963, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Aloysius and Rita (Hoeger) Ameskamp. He was a 1982 graduate of the Western Dubuque High School in Epworth, Iowa. On June 26, 1993, he was united in marriage to Sharon Donahue at the Basilica St. Francis Xavier in.  Dyersville, Iowa.

Wayne was a man who truly loved the outdoors and all the simple joys that life had to offer.  An avid hunter, fisherman, and camper, he could often be found enjoying nature and making memories wherever the outdoors took him.  He had a green thumb and took great pride in his gardening, and he also enjoyed relaxing with a good cocktail.  Wayne was a devoted husband and wonderful father.  He was known for being a little stubborn at times, but that was simply part of how he showed he cared to those he loved, and those who knew him loved him for it.  He was emotional, caring, loving and deeply devoted to the people who meant the most to him.  Above all, Wayne cherished his family and the time he spent with them, leaving behind a lifetime of memories that will be treasured forever

He was a member of the St. Francis Parish in Dyersville, Iowa.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sharon Ameskamp of Dyersville; two children, Ryan (fiancé, Hannah Massey) Ameskamp of Dyersville and Tara (Kyle) Walker of Dubuque; first grandchild (Kipton) on the way; Three siblings, Julie (Carl) Prier of Dyersville, IA, Paul (Mary) Ameskamp of Garden Prairie, IL and Luke (Tammy) Ameskamp of Dyersville, IA; Father-in-law, Mike Donahue of Dubuque; brothers and sisters-in-law, Shellie Donahue -Hall of East Dubuque, IL, Stephanie (Guy) Cheevers of Phoenix, AZ, Tia (Ed) Newton of Lake Forest, CA; and several Nieces and Nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Mary Jo Erickson; brother-in-law, Mike Donahue who parished in the same accident.
