Constance L. McKeon
Constance L. “Conny” McKeon, 97, of Dubuque, died Sunday, May 1, 2022, at the Unity Point Health-Finley Hospital in Dubuque.
Constance was born January 7, 1925, in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Harold and Eleanor Ruley Pape.
She was a graduate of Dubuque Senior High School.
She was a bank teller for First National Bank of Dubuque.
Conny was an avid volunteer at Finley Hospital for many years. Conny helped at the ribbon cutting ceremony and was the first person to cross the Julien Dubuque Bridge in 1943. She enjoyed spending time with her family and sharing her quirky sense of humor with everyone. She met for monthly lunches with her graduating class of 1942. She loved animals, especially the pet cats she had over the years. Her cheery disposition will be missed.
Survivors include three sons, Dennis (Connie) Apel of Tucson, AZ, Peter (Sandi) Apel of Dubuque, and Thomas (Paula) McKeon of Dubuque; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, William “Bill” Apel in 1988, her second husband, Sylvester McKeon in 1999, her parents, and a sister, Jan Hodges.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Finley Hospital Volunteers, and the Dubuque Humane Society.
The family thanks the nurses and staff at Finley Hospital Comfort Care, especially Becky and Alisha.

David L. Streight
David Lloyd Streight, 84, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2022, at UW Madison Hospital. Funeral service will be held at Noon, Saturday May 7, 2022, at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena, IL. Friends may call after 10 AM, at the funeral chapel until the time of service. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena. The family is requiring masks to be worn.
He was born November 7, 1937, in Monticello, IL; son of Lloyd and Ola (Rogers) Streight. David married the love of his life, Patsy Lee Green, on July 13, 1957, in Hanover, IL. Together they celebrated nearly 60 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on January 14, 2017. Throughout his career he worked in the railroad and construction industries, the Galena School District for 25 years, and for Grant’s Home and Chestnut in retirement. He loved attending and rooting for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at all their sporting events. David himself, was an outstanding athlete for Hanover High School and even though he moved to Galena as a young adult he remained a Hanover Red Devil his entire life. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan. His incredible sense of humor could make anyone smile or laugh. He truly enjoyed his vegetable garden. He looked forward to participating in area parades with his antique car. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife during their retirement.
He is survived by sons: Rick and Ron of Galena, IL, Tim (Sherry) of Hanover, IL, and daughter Jill (Streight) Little of San Diego, CA. Grandchildren: Annika (Rommel), Christy (Warren), Stacy, Brooke, Rachel, Timothy, Ryan, and Nathan. Great-grandchildren: Claire, Teagan, Caleb, Adan, Braden, Payson, Phoenix, Daxten, Maylen, Ella, and Henry. His sisters-in-law, Rita Streight, Mary Turner, and Sandra Thoeni. And many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Patsy Lee, parents Lloyd and Ola (Rogers) Streight, in-laws Albert and Wilma (Shaw) Green, brothers Luther and Roger Streight, son-in-law, Christopher Little, brothers and sisters-in-law, Maurice and Joyce Hahn, Robert and Nancy Meneguin, William Green, Robert Green, David Thoeni, and Wayne Turner.

Marie M. Kempert
Marie M. (Holland) Kempert ended her earthly journey and went to be with the Lord, on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Galena Stauss Senior Care Community surrounded by her loving family. Funeral service will be 11AM, Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena, IL where friends may call after 9 AM until the time of service. The burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena.
She was born April 3, 1931, on the family farm located on Snipe Hollow Road in Elizabeth, IL. Marie was the daughter of Herman and Anna (Gruber) Holland. She attended grade school at Mount Morley and graduated with the class of 1949 from Galena High School. She married Alfred Kempert Jr. on May 9, 1952, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Galena. To this blessed union three children were born, Cynthia, Gregory, and Vicky. Marie was the first carhop at the Little Chef Drive-In, Galena. She then worked at the Savanna Army Depot, Burgess Battery, Galena, and ended her career at Eaton Corporation, Hanover, IL, retiring after being there 23 years. Marie was a lifetime member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church. She and Al loved attending stock car races, wrestling matches, and drive-in movies. Her passions included spending time with her family, especially her grand and great-grandchildren; reading; writing to numerous pen pals; sending cards and stories to brighten people’s days and enjoyed shopping, especially Black Friday marathons with her daughters, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters. Marie genuinely enjoyed spending time with her family and treasured the many gatherings held at her home laughing.
Those left behind to cherish the memory of Marie include her two daughters, Cynthia (Dan) Laity and Vicky (Gary) Vondran both of Galena, six grandchildren, Justin (Jane) Laity, Jonathan (Amanda) Laity, Angela (Dave) Turpin, Melissa (Matt) Romer, Matthew (Alexis) Vondran and Jennifer Kempert, thirteen great-grandchildren; one brother Bill (Dorothy) Holland of Stockton, IL; one brother-in-law, Herb (Diane) Kempert, of Townsend, GA, and sister-in-law, Betty Speaker Kempert of Galena, special friend, Cindy Anderson along with her numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alfred in 2007; her son, Gregory in 2000; her granddaughter, Christina Vondran in 1980; three sisters, Anna McKibben, Susan Vandervate, and one in infancy; five brothers, Frank, Herman, Louie and two in infancy, along with six nephews and two nieces.
Special thanks to the numerous doctors who cared for her throughout her lifetime, Hospice of Dubuque for their professional and compassionate care of Marie over these past few days, the staff from Galena Stauss Senior Care Community, and Galena Stauss Assisted Living especially Tracy, Janelle, and Ed. Your genuine care and concern have truly helped ease Marie’s pain, but also the pain we bear because of our loss, and for that, we are eternally grateful. Marie always instilled in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to “Live by the Golden Rule”; “Never Go To Bed Mad as tomorrow is not guaranteed” and “Laugh Every Day”. Her philosophy she lived by daily was to reach out and touch someone either with a phone call, by sending a card or letter, or by just saying “Hi” and giving a stranger a smile.

Connie M. Harter
Connie Marie (Maus) Harter, 82, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away peacefully on May 1, 2022, with family by her side.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 4th, 2022, at St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church with Fr. Jim Goerend officiating. Family and friends may gather after 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, at the church until time of mass. Private family graveside committal service will be Thursday, May 4th, 2022, at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road is assisting the family.
She married Elmer Harter on July 18, 1963 and together shared 58 years of marriage, residing in the same house for all those years.
Connie graduated from St. Joseph School of Nursing. She was an RN at Mercy Hospital and MCauley Center at Loras College. Connie and Elmer were also the owners of four car washes in Dubuque and Madison.
Connie loved to bowl, play cards and plant flowers and Christmas was her favorite time of year. Connie loved to talk with anyone that was willing to listen. Connie had a heart of gold and loved her family that all lived near her in Dubuque.
She is survived by her husband Elmer; children: Angie Harter (Michael Boever), Julie Schmit (Rick Schmit), and Jeff Harter. Connie loved and spoiled her five grandsons. Tyler, Logan, Colton, Tate and Max. She is also survived by her brothers: Ron (Hope) Maus and Richard (Ginny) Maus; her in-laws: Christa Maus, Joe and Joan Harter, Pete and Jane Oberbroeckling, Clara Harter, and Dorothy Ludwig.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Gary Maus; brothers-in-law, Henry Harter, Bill Ludwig, and Alice and Ralph Digman.
The family requests no flowers, in lieu of flowers a Connie Harter memorial fund will be established.
Leanne J. Banfield
Leanne J. Banfield, 84, of Cuba City, Wisconsin, died Sunday, May 1, 2022, at home surrounded by her family. A public Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2022, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Cuba City, Wisconsin, with Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. There will be no public visitation. Casey-McNett Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cuba City, Wisconsin, is assisting the family.
Leanne was born on November 29, 1937, in Elk Grove, Wisconsin, the daughter of Delphinus and Leone (Thomas) Belken. She married John J. Banfield on July 16, 1960 at St. Rose of Lima Church in Cuba City.
Leanne loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She had many talents, including sewing, quilting, scrapbooking, crafting and baking. Her pumpkin bars and Special K bars were a specialty. Leanne was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Parish and Cole Acres Golf Course, where she served as treasurer. Leanne loved watching sports including her grandchildren’s events, Wisconsin teams, and the Chicago Cubs. One of her greatest memories was watching the Cubs win the 2016 World Series. She enjoyed traveling with her family and having coffee with her many friends.
Survivors include her husband, John Banfield, Cuba City; five children, Debbie (Joel) David, Lincolnshire, IL, Diane (Paul) Hooper, Crystal Lake, IL, Donna Banfield, Kurt (Tammy) Banfield, and Pam Fleck, all of Mount Horeb, WI; ten grandchildren, Allison (Cameron) Gray, Nichole Banfield, Ashley Banfield, Tyler Banfield, Jack Fleck, Mackenzie Fleck, Dominic Hooper, Erin Hooper, Evan Hooper, and Emily (Matt) Spurgeon; two sisters, Darlene (Bob) Rielly and Jeanette (Norm) Weber, both of Cuba City; and four brothers, Dick Belken, Dwayne (Joan) Belken, and Mike Belken, all of Cuba City, and Ron (Mary) Belken, Benton, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Bob (Pat) Belken; and a son-in-law, John Fleck.

Peggy A. Rutherford
Peggy A. Rutherford, age 64, of Hazel Green, WI, completed her earthly journey on April 16, 2022, at home while surrounded by her loving family. To honor Peggy’s life, her Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at her home, 2849 Sandy Hood Road in Hazel Green, WI. Family and friends are invited to join in fellowship and Peggy’s memory from 12:00 until 5:00 p.m. The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Peggy’s family.
Peggy was born on October 5, 1957, in Dubuque, IA, a daughter to Bernard and Margaret (Runde) Leibfried. Peggy was raised with an intrinsic love for not only her family and friends, but also for her country. She eventually made her way into the U.S. Air Force after high school and was blessed to have met her soul-mate, Alexander Rutherford, while serving at the Pease AFB in New Hampshire. The couple was united in marriage and as soon as Alexander completed his 20 years, moved back to Hazel Green to be close to her family. They were blessed with 3 children, 5 grandchildren, and many wonderful years together. Peggy was a proud housewife who devoted 100% of her time, efforts, and energy to her home and family. Her gentle soul was always on display and her light definitely shown brightest when she could simply be outside playing with her grandkids. Peggy was the epitome of a loving wife and mother, only relaxing when time allowed to work on her latest jig-saw puzzle, painting, or to simply cuddle up in her recliner with her favorite book. She loved life to the fullest and always choose to see the good in everything and everyone. Her generosity was unmatched and her love was never restrained. As our hearts appear to be broken beyond repair today, we trust that the memories which Peggy leaves behind will in time find a way to make our days a little more tolerable and her legacy will be carried onward in the lives of all who knew and loved her. Thank you, Peggy, for never allowing the failures and faults of this world to ever take hold in your heart and may the love and light that you so boldly held high for all to see find a welcome and grateful home in our lives as well. We will love you forever, miss you daily, and pray that peace is now yours until we all meet again.

Mary J. (MacFarlane) Fluhr, 86, of East Dubuque, IL, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at the Ahva Living Center, (formerly Bell Tower Retirement Community) in East Dubuque.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at St. Mary’s Church in East Dubuque, with Fr. Dennis Vargas officiating. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Miller Funeral Home in East Dubuque, where the Parish Scripture Service will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Mary was born on June 7, 1935, in East Dubuque, the daughter of George L. and Esther E. (Ziegler) MacFarlane. She was a graduate of East Dubuque High School, the class of 1953. On November 27,1958, Mary was united in marriage to Kenneth J. “Ken” Fluhr at St. Mary’s Church in East Dubuque.
Mary was formerly employed at Wm. C. Brown Publishing Company until her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary’s Parish and the Altar & Rosary Society.
Surviving are three children, Joleen “Jodi” (George) Murphy and Julie (special friend, Brian D. Meyer) Fluhr, both of Dubuque and Jeffrey “Jeff” (Heidi) Fluhr of Sun Prairie, WI; two grandchildren, Marleigh and Kendall; a brother, Michael (Kathy) MacFarlane of Ajo, AZ; sisters-in-law, JoAnn Belken and Kathy (O’Neill) MacFarlane both of East Dubuque and brothers-in-law, David (Bonnie) Fluhr of East Dubuque and Harold Howard of Kevil, KY and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, George and Esther, siblings, Esther Dalsing, George “Bud” (Rosemary) MacFarlane, Joyce Howard, Bob (Joyce) MacFarlane and David MacFarlane, in-laws, Tom (Mary) Fluhr and Dallas Belken.

Michael P. Gardner
Michael P. Gardner, age 53, of Eugene, OR, and formerly of East Dubuque, IL, passed away at 12:54 a.m., on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at home surrounded by his loving family. In keeping with Mike’s wishes there will not be a public service held at this time. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery at a later date.
Mike was born on February 26, 1969, in Dubuque, IA, son of Wayne and Karen K. (Duschen) Gardner.
Mike graduated from Wahlert Catholic High School and attended Loras College before transferring to the University of Iowa, where he earned both a B.S. in Pharmacy and a Pharm.D. He began his pharmacy career in Dubuque before moving to Eugene, Oregon in 1997.
Mike’s pharmacy career in Eugene included time at both Sacred Heart Medical Center and McKenzie Willamette Medical Center. He was beloved by patients, coworkers, and physicians. His passion for his profession will live on in the lives of all he impacted through his work.
When Mike moved to Oregon, he reconnected with his college classmate and friend, Karen Johnston. The rekindled friendship grew into love and Mike and Karen married on September 1, 2001, at St. Mary’s Church in East Dubuque. They have traveled the world together and enjoyed many adventures. Mike and Karen have also cared for and loved three dogs during their life together, Radar, Parker and Lucy.
Mike had several interests, including photography, model trains, and arcade game collecting. Whatever he was currently working on he tackled with the same level of passion he applied to his pharmacy career. He planned carefully, learning as much as he could about what he was working on, and shared that knowledge with others. Family was always very important to Mike. He had a special bond with his nieces and nephew, always sharing his pride in their accomplishments. Mike leaves all of us with countless memories and funny stories that we will cherish forever. He will be greatly missed!
Mike leaves behind his loving wife of 20 years, Karen Gardner, Eugene, OR; his parents, Wayne and Karen Gardner, East Dubuque, IL; his sister, Beth Whalen, Eugene, OR; his nieces and a nephew, Madeleine (Nic) Martini, Madison, WI, Meghan (Pinak) Shukla, Greenbrae, CA, and Ryan Whalen, Seattle, WA.
Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, Vincent Paul and Alvina Elizabeth (Pluym) Duschen and James Monroe and Elizabeth (Schier) Gardner.
Robert Weber
Robert “Bobby” Weber, 76, of Bellevue, passed away at his home on Saturday, April 30, 2022. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am, Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at St. Donatus Catholic Church. Family will greet friends 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Hachmann-Mier Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue, additional visitation will be one hour prior to Mass on Wednesday at St. Donatus Catholic Church. Burial will be in church cemetery.
Bobby was born September 23, 1945 in rural St. Donatus, the son of Neil and Rose (Flammang) Weber. Bobby married Donna Backes on November 18, 1967, she passed on December 8, 1986. He was a lifetime farmer and loved his Case IH tractors. Bobby enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and never met a stranger. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his children, Terry (Elizabeth) Weber, Scott Weber, Tricia (Scott) Holdgrafer, and Samantha (James) Sanford; grandchildren, Tye, Kasen, Dominic, Austin, Ashton, Mason, Raylan, Justus, and Morgan; step-daughters, Andi, Billie Jo, and Crystal; siblings, Gary (Sharon) Weber, Diane (Roger) Michels, Connie (Steve) Schelegel, and Mary Ann (James) Klein; sisters in-law, Bildad Weber and Sue Weber; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Donna; brothers, Eldie and Richard Weber; and a daughter in-law, Heather Aldrich.
A memorial fund has been established in Bobby’s memory.

Dennis D. Duehr
Dennis D. “Buzz” Duehr, 73, of East Dubuque, IL, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at the V. A. Medical Center, Iowa City, IA.
Visitation will be from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2022, at the Miller Funeral Home in East Dubuque, where prayers and sharing of memories will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery, with military honors accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League and the Air Force Honors Guard.
Buzz was born on February 4, 1949, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Delbert and Pearl (Culbertson) Duehr. He was a graduate of Dubuque Senior High School, the class of 1967. He was united in marriage to Sandie L. Collins on January 10, 1991, in Galena, IL.
Buzz was formerly employed by Sieman Woodworks in East Dubuque. He served in the U. S. Air Force from March 9, 1970 – March 8, 1974, attaining the rank of SSGT. He was an Air Traffic Control Operator.
Buzz enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, the Alabama and Green Bay Packers football teams.
Surviving is his wife, Sandie; five children, Jennifer Watson, Bj (Madison) Duehr, Paige (special friend Jill) Duehr; Dusty and Austin (Ashley) Duehr; two grandchildren, Zach and Roman; his siblings, Sandra Brown, Cindy (David) Lindsey, Charles (Musetta) Loeffelholz, Glenn (special friend Yolonda Knuff) Loeffelholz, Don (JoAnne) Loeffelholz and Tim (special friend Kathy Otting Reuter) Loeffelholz; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Buzz was preceded in death by his father, Delbert Duehr, mother and step-father Vincent & Pearl Loeffelholz, sister, Linda (Lehman) Pitts and brother-in-law, James Brown.

Amanda M. Richmon
Amanda Marie Richmon, 41, of Dubuque, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2022.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 1, at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 John F. Kennedy Rd., Dubuque. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 2, at the funeral home, and will be live-streamed. Rev. Dianne Grace will officiate. Private burial will be at Linwood Cemetery.
Amanda was born February 4, 1981. She graduated from Hempstead High School. Amanda was most recently a resident of Hills & Dales. She was a huge fan of the Green Bay Packers. Amanda enjoyed looking at photographs, playing bingo, and spending time with friends and family. She also loved watching movies.
Amanda is survived by two brothers, Dennis (Maria) Richmon and their son Emiliano, of Dubuque, and Darrin (Nakita) Richmon of Suffolk, VA; her mother Janet (Bob) Trickler of Rockford, IL; her aunts and uncles, Mary Jo (Larry) Gearhart of Dubuque, Martha (Paul) Schmidt of Epworth, Matthew Richmon of Dubuque, Raymond (Mitzi) Richmon of Dubuque, and Tammy (Dave) Kluesner of Anderson, IN; many cousins, including her special cousin Grace Ibarra; and a family friend (Dennis & Darrin’s father) Tony Livens.
She was preceded in death by her aunt/second mother, Rosie Brandenburg; her grandparents Clara and Simon Richmon; and her aunt Nancy Meisenburg.

Kathleen M. Phillips
Kathleen M. Phillips, age 73, of Dubuque, IA, completed her earthly journey on April 27, 2022, at MercyOne in Dubuque while surrounded by her loving family. To honor Kathleen’s life, a private family service is being held. The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Kathleen’s family.
Kathleen was born on May 1, 1948, in Brooklyn, New York, a daughter to Al and Mary Marshall. She eventually made her way to Dubuque to be close to her sister and enjoy the more relaxed environment of life in the Midwest. She spent many years working in the housekeeping department at the Canfield Hotel, and even more years helping and serving as a proud soldier in the Salvation Army. Kathleen was a strong-willed and determined woman who also possessed a wonderful sense of humor and an unwavering love for her family and fellow man. She enjoyed life where she could and strived to make the best of every situation. It’s difficult to process losing Kathleen so suddenly and watching her bright light flicker for one last time among us, but we are forever grateful for the time and memories that we were blessed with throughout her 73 years among us. We will miss her more than she could ever imagine and will carry her legacy forward through each day ahead. Thank you, Kathleen, for always living the best life you could and for making the world such a better place simply due of your presence within it.

Craig R. Jackson
Craig Robert Jackson, 61, of St. Catherine’s, passed away on April 27, 2022, the result of an accident while working.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Church with Father Dennis Miller officiating. Burial will follow at St. Catherine’s cemetery. A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday May 2, 2022, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road.
Craig was born on August 9, 1960, in St. Catherine’s, son of Alan and Patricia (Beitzel) Jackson. He married the love of his life, Jean Smith, on September 12, 1981.
He graduated from Marquette High School in 1979. He then attended Hawkeye Tech in Waterloo where he studied to be a diesel mechanic from 1979-1980. Craig started work at Ed and Marie Valentine’s Farm and earned the nickname of “Ebb.” He then worked at Jackson Tuckpointing, Hawkeye Waste in Waterloo, Donovan International in Waterloo, Truck Country for 14.5 years, and last for the Dubuque Community School District for 23 years- 18 as a bus mechanic and 5 years working on buildings and grounds.
Craig loved his family, hunting, fishing, camping, canoeing, kayaking, wood working, playing cards, and spending time with friends and family. He was always able to make you laugh, and someone you could never forget. He was a great father and grandfather (“Papa”) and was greatly looked up to by those around him. He rarely complained. He just knew how to get the job done right the first time. His two boys saw him as everything they aspired to be.
Surviving is his wife, Jean; sons Alan and Matthew Jackson; grandchildren Eben and Everly Jackson; his mother Pat (Ted) Jackson-Lightcap; siblings Jeff (Cathy) Jackson, Todd (Sharon) Jackson, Kim (Steve) Weber, Shawn (Angie) Jackson, Jenny (Gary) Kreig, Kim (Larry) VanHauer, and Laurie (Scott Meythler) Lightcap as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Alan Jackson, nephew Colin Jackson, grandparents George and Thelma Jackson and Al and Stella Beitzel, and parents-in-law Jim and Joan Smith.
In lieu of flowers a Craig Jackson memorial fund will be established.
The family would like to thank the Dubuque Police, Fire and EMS along with the Bellevue Police Department for all their care and compassion they gave to Craig’s family. Also, a special thank you to all the family and friends for their love and support during this difficult time.

Dorothy M. Hittenmiller
Dorothy M. Hittenmiller, 93 of Dyersville, Iowa passed away Friday, April 29, 2022 at her home at Ellen Kennedy Living Center in Dyersville.
Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2022 at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2022 at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Tyler Raymond will officiate.
Dorothy was born on September 10, 1928 in Templeton, Iowa, the daughter of Ambrose and Mary (Horbach) Bierl. She married James E. Hittenmiller on June 14, 1949 in Dyersville. Together they owned and operated Furnitureland formerly Gambles for many years until retiring when their two sons took over the business. Dorothy was an avid reader and collected Angels and Cookbooks.
Survivors include her children: Tom (Nancy) Hittenmiller of Clive, Karen (Bob) Faber of Ankeny, Robert “Budda” Hittenmiller of Lake Delhi, Scott (Deb) Hittenmiller of Dyersville, 7 grandchildren, Kelly (Jason) Driscoll, Shelly (Ryan) Evans, Rob (Karisa) Faber, Ryan Hittenmiller, Brett (Becca) Hittenmiller, Tricia (Irvin) Oltmanns, Todd (Tricia) Hittenmiller and 14 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jim in 2004, sister: Norma (Gerald) Maiers, in-laws: Myron (Betty) Hittenmiller, Robert (Grace) Hittenmiller, and Mary Eileen (John) Murphy.

Craig A. Knier
Craig Allen Knier, 53, of Peosta, died Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at his home in Peosta.
A prayer service will be held at 4:00 pm Monday, May 2, 2022, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Peosta followed by visitation until 7:00 pm.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Craig will be 10:30 am Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Peosta with Father Mark Murphy as the Celebrant and Father Bill Brunner as the Concelebrant. Craig was born July 31, 1968, in Manitowoc, WI, the son of Conrade Lee and Shirley Ann Schmidt Knier. On August 29, 1992, he married Ann Catherine Johnson in St. Mary’s Church in Dubuque.
Craig graduated from Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, WI. He worked in the software development and product management in the health care industry.
Craig was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Peosta. He formerly was a member of St. Thomas More Parish while living in Elgin, IL, where he was active in TMIY and weekly Eucharistic Adoration. Craig cherished time with family. There was always laughter, popcorn, and pretzels in abundance. Despite struggles with physical and mental issues, Craig showed up for family and friends with a smile. He enjoyed the Chelsea Football Club, enjoyed fishing and spending time at the lake. He was also the best dog daddy to Chelsea. On November 14, 2003, Craig achieved sobriety and fought everyday to maintain it.
Survivors include his wife, Ann; one daughter, Alexa (Matthew) Goss of Dubuque; one son, Adam (Katelyn Hamilton) Knier of Kansas City; two grandchildren, Addyson and Kylee Goss; father, Conrade (Marilyn) Knier of Dunnellon, FL; one sister, Carla (Douglas) Buboltz; in-laws, Timothy (Dana) Johnson, Gina (DeDe Davidson) Mauk, Lisa (Chuck) Shepherd; many aunts and uncles; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mom, Shirley, and in-laws, Merlyn and Shirley Johnson.
