April L. Kruser
April Lynn Kruser, 43, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away peacefully at home on June 5, 2020.
Private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road is assisting the family.
April was born on March 4, 1977 in Dubuque, Iowa the daughter of Donald & Virginia (Jameson) Kruser. She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1995 and then from Loras College in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business.
She married Kimberly Moeller, on December 12, 2011 in Dubuque
She was employed with Humach since 2007. April made many strong friendships throughout her years at Humach in which some very strong bonds were formed. April loved her job and loved everyone she worked with. Kimberly met April at work when she first started at Humach in 2007. April and Kimberly formed a very strong friendship, that later blossomed into the strongest love you can imagine.
April was such a wonderful, special & loving person. She was a dedicated, devoted, loving mother first and foremost. She loved spending time with her family, especially with her daughters, taking pictures, sending funny random snapchats and texts. April loved taking pictures, however, she did not like having her picture taken, so we always had to “sneak” those in. April was always there for the girls through the good and challenging times. April would always say “We will figure it out, we always do. Where there is a will there is a way”. April was always right- things happen for a reason, however, in the end, April always made sure we were all taken care of.
She loved telling stories, playing “cooking games” on her phone and always playing around with our pets.
A note from Kim – April was the strongest woman I ever met. She was my best friend and the love of my life and the best wife/mom anyone could ask for. She was not afraid of anything or anyone. April had an impact on everyone’s life, whether you were family or friend. Her smile, love and commitment to others will never be forgotten. April always knew how to make people laugh, was always there for anyone who needed a shoulder to lean on.
April will be severely missed; however, April would not want us to continue to be sad. April would want us all to be happy. April will never be forgotten and will live on in our hearts, souls for the rest of our lives. I know we will continue to feel April’s presence around us all the time.
April always said she was the lucky one to have so many people care so much for her, however, the truth is – we are all the lucky ones to have had her in our life.
April- you are now our “Angel” in the sky, and we know you will be watching over all of us. Our love for you will go on forever and forever. Fly high April! We love you more then what you will ever, ever know!
April is survived by her wife Kimberly Kruser, of Dubuque, IA; two daughters Nikki (Austin) Ockenfels, and Paige Cupps both of Dubuque, IA; her mother Virginia Kruser, of Dubuque, IA; her brother Adam (Brittany) Kruser, of Hopkinton, IA; mother-in-Law, Norma Jean Moeller, of Dyersville, IA; sisters-in-Law: Cathy (Gene) Sickels, of Masonville, IA, Donna Stock (Jerry Smith), of Luxenburg, IA, Patricia (Chris) Willenborg, of Dyersville, IA and Sharon Moeller (Richard Galligan), of Cedar Rapids, IA; her brother-n-Law: Bill Moeller, of East Dubuque, IL. Gryphon T. Metcalf
Our beloved Gryphon, departed this world on Saturday, June 6, 2020, at the age of 18.
Gryphon was born to Olivia Heiken and Thomas Metcalf in Dubuque, Iowa on March 22, 2002. As a child, Gryphon spent his early childhood living in Galena. He would dress up in rainboots and a toy sword to walk his sisters to school, proudly becoming their “keeping-safe-guy,” a role he continued to fill as they all grew. He also participated in the American Civil War reenactments, where he educated the public on the history of the era.
As a graduating senior at Hempstead High School, Gryphon was known by everyone as “Papa Bear,” and someone to go to for advice and motivation across niches and social groups, crossing all barriers to bring people together. Gryphon had a gift for seeing people’s unique core, and always knew what they needed to hear and how to make them feel safe and seen. Gryphon loved minecraft, fishing and poker, and would often organize game nights with his friends.
During his senior year at Hempstead, Gryphon completed his CNA and worked at the Bethany Home, where he was beloved by everyone, and gave each resident a nickname. A natural protector, Gryphon was incredibly dedicated to the safety of all the residents during the Covid-19 outbreak, picking up extra shifts and going above and beyond with social distancing practices to make sure everyone was safe.
After graduating Hempstead this June, Gryphon had planned to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology and then a career at the FBI. He had already jumpstarted his college education by reading textbooks, and had fallen in love with the study of psychology and sociology. At Hempstead, Gryphon played Varsity football as a lineman. He was often found at the YMCA working on his UPA powerlifting and making friends in the weightroom.
Along with his parents Olivia and Thomas, Gryphon will be forever loved and missed by his sisters Isabella and Chloe; grandparents Bill and Wendy Heiken; grandmother Cheri Scanlon, as well as numerous extended family members, friends and loved ones.
A celebration of life will take place on Friday, June 12 from 1-5 pm at the Novelty Iron Works (333 E. 10th St., Dubuque, Iowa). Patrick E. Fishnick, Sr
Patrick E. “Chubbs” Fishnick, Sr., age 71 of Dubuque, Iowa, completed his earthly journey on June 5, 2020, at home, surrounded by his loving family. To honor Pat’s life, a Celebration of Life for Pat will be held on Monday, June 15, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., at the American Legion Hall, 1306 Delhi Street in Dubuque. Burial will be in the Dubuque Memorial Gardens Cemetery, where full military honors will be accorded by the Dubuque American Legion, Post #6. The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Pat’s family.
Pat was born on April 30, 1949, in Dubuque, Iowa, one of 6 children to Bernard L. and Edna L. (Davis) Fishnick. He was a proud graduate of Dubuque Senior High School and was united in marriage to his soul-mate, Carolee A. Blakeman, on August 30, 1969, just before leaving to honorably serve his country with the U.S. Army, 2nd Battalion, 1st Artillery Division in Vietnam. Upon returning home, Pat spent 10 years with the John Deere Dubuque Works before eventually investing over 28 years of his working career with Eagle Window and Door. He happily retired in 2011 and was able to now spend much more free-time within his favorite endeavors in life. A few hours at the bowling alley, especially Fisher Lanes where his first 700 series pin still resides on the wall, was always a welcomed adventure in the day. Pat also enjoyed sitting around the card table with family and friends, laying all of the correct cards in the correct order until the victory was his. He was also known to occasionally try his luck at the casino with his bride by his side. But, truth be told, any opportunity to have his friends and family around him was always on his short list of ways to make his day a successful one. Pat was personally driven to continually be himself in all areas of life, and his integrity was as solid as a rock. We will miss him more than he could have ever known, but we do find peace in the fact that we were able to share the many enjoyable years with him as he walked among us. Thank you, Pat, for your open and honest character and may peace from your earthly struggles be yours until we meet again.

They were blessed with 56 wonderful years together and 4 children, before he was sadly called home ahead of her on December 5, 2002. In her free time, Marcy and Art enjoyed getting together with friends, playing cards or going dancing at Melody Mill. They moved to the Woodlands and made many new friends, and after Art’s passing Marcy could be found playing cards or bingo every day. It was hard to find her in her apartment, she truly was the definition of a “social butterfly”. We are eternally grateful for the 98 years we have had here with Marcy, she has experienced more changes in her lifetime than most can imagine. We love you and look forward to the day when we are all happily reunited in our Heavenly home forever.

She also enjoyed completing puzzles and coloring with her great-grandchildren that always referred to her as “Oma”. She held a special place in her heart for the Chicago Cubs and was delighted to celebrate their World Series win. She also enjoyed spending as much time as possible with family; including her many trips to Germany to visit family and friends and the visits her nephew, Raymond made from Germany over the last few years. Irma was an extremely hard-worker and always wanted to be busy, but she always made time to be with those she loved and cherished. She always felt that family was the best medicine for the soul.
Those left to treasure the memories of Irma are her daughter Judy (Jim) Mohr of Dubuque; son Merlin (Chris) Sadler of East Dubuque; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Carolyn Dotterweich of Monticello, Iowa, Delores (Eugene) Ginter of Dickeyville, WI, Inez (Leo) Kinsella of Bernard, Iowa, Joanne (George) Bergfeld of Peosta, Iowa; brother-in-law Edwin Clemen of New Vienna, Iowa and many nieces and nephews.
Irma was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Gregor Voelk; sisters-in-law Rose Marie Clemen and Helen Gaul; her son Francis Sadler; and her soulmate Ray Sadler.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to those that cared for Irma including Kristen from Hospice of Dubuque, Dr. Cao, and all the wonderful staff at Stonehill that took special care of Irma especially her angel. Irma loved you all as family and we will forever be thankful.

Kim D. Reiter
Kim Douglas Reiter, 64, of Dubuque, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2020, at home.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 John F. Kennedy Rd. Interment will be private at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.egelhofsiegertcasper.com
Kim was born November 8, 1955 in Dubuque, the only son of Merlin and Janann (Duccini) Reiter. He attended Hempstead High School. Kim married Susan McCoy on January 27, 1973.
He was employed as a salesman with Gierke-Robinson Co. for many years, and later at Hormel until his retirement.
Kim was a shooting enthusiast, especially trap-shooting. He spent many hours with his shooting buddies at Izaak Walton Club, Southwest Wisconsin Sportsman’s Club, and Muscoda Sportsman’s League. Much to his amusement, Kim once won high overall score in the Women’s Category, due to his excellent shooting…and his first name.
He was an admirer of classic cars, and enlisted his daughters for a 20 year project of rebuilding a 1967 Camaro from the ground up, acquiring parts from swap-meets. Kim was meticulous with everything he did, and he enjoyed shining his tools and organizing his cabinets. Mornings would often find him jamming to the classic rock songs that he loved to listen to – loudly.
Kim is survived by his wife, Susan; three daughters, Tammy (Tim) Hubanks of Sherrill, Kimberly (Jody) Turner of Joplin, MO, and Andrea (Tyler Steele) Reiter of Dubuque; and his four grandchildren, Jerod and Sydnee Hubanks, Gavin Reiter-Turner, and Ember Steele.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Kim’s family kindly asks that social distancing and the use of masks be observed. Current guidelines require half capacity in the funeral home.
