Donald E. Current
Donald E. Current, 86, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and formerly of Maquoketa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
A celebration of his life will be held at 12 P.M., Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. A memorial visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded and burial will be at a later date at Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa.
Donald Eugene Current was born on July 9, 1933 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to James Sr. and Daisy (Wray) Current. He was a 1951 graduate of Maquoketa High School and served his country in the U.S. Army receiving an honorable discharge. He married Evelyn Dorrean Bickford on April 17, 1955 in Maquoketa, Iowa.
Prior to serving his country, Don worked as a draftsman at Clinton Engines in Maquoketa. Upon returning home from the service to his country, he worked for Nissen Company as a draftsman from 1959 to 1963, and then Cherry-Burrell as a draftsman from 1963 until retiring in 1999.
Don loved his family and friends. His greatest passions were fishing, woodworking, traveling, and National Geographic. He was an active member of the Trinity-St. James United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Evelyn Current of Cedar Rapids, IA; children, Debra Holl of Phoenix, AZ, Doug and his wife Chris Current of Melbourne, FL, and Greg and his wife Jennifer Jones-Current of Eureka, CA; 4 grandchildren, Megan and Emily Holl, and Corrina and Annika Jones-Current; brothers, James Current Jr. of Maquoketa, IA, and Richard (Shirley) Current of Maquoketa, IA; and a sister, Donna May Said of Maquoketa, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Mark, brothers Robert and George Current, and a sister Beverly Durkop.

Cathy J. Miller
Cathy J. Miller, 65, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2020, at her home.
Friends and family may gather in remembrance of Cathy from 5 to 7 P.M. on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Cremation rites have been accorded. A private burial will be at Monmouth, Iowa Cemetery at a later date.
Cathy Jo Carr was born on May 2, 1954 in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Harold Wellington and Mary Lois (Ralston) Carr. She was educated in Dubuque schools. She married Jesse V. Miller on August 30, 1991 in Maquoketa, Iowa. He preceded her in death on November 9, 2009.
Cathy had worked in area factories most of her life. She most notably had worked as a welder at WADY Industries in Maquoketa for 16 years as a welder until retirement.
Cathy enjoyed going to casinos, playing cards and singing/listening to music.
Those left to honor Cathy’s memory include a son, Travis (Tracy Manning) Bickford of Maquoketa, IA; step-children, Kirk (Erin) Miller of Maquoketa, IA, and Chad (Kristina) Miller of Maquoketa, IA; 2 grandchildren, Britney (Jordan) Carr and Bailey Bickford; several step-grandchildren; brothers, Edward (Nancy) Carr of Kaloa, HI, and Allan (Carol) Carr of Monmouth, IA; and sisters, Sharon Foulks of Onslow, IA, Dixie Bruns of Monmouth, IA, and Carla (Donald) Clark of Monmouth, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jesse, brothers Doug, Dale, Ronnie, Thomas, Jim and Jack, sisters Jane, Marilee, Karen, Lois, and Linda, and a step-son Kyle Miller.

Sister Mary Francesca Presseller
Sister Mary Francesca Presseller, PBVM, 98, died on Friday, January 3, 2020, at Mount Loretto Motherhouse, 2360 Carter Road, Dubuque IA.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at 1:00 pm at Sacred Heart Chapel, Sisters of the Presentation, with a dinner at 11:00 am and burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West. Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 pm on Monday, January 6, 2020, at Sacred Heart Chapel, where there will be a vigil service at 7:00 pm.
Sister Mary Francesca, daughter of Paul and Anna (Weiss) Presseller, was born Elizabeth Theresa on July 26, 1921, in Robbinsdale MN. She entered the Sisters of the Presentation on September 13, 1948, and professed her perpetual vows on May 3, 1954. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in education from Loras College, Dubuque IA.
Sister’s ministries took her to Mason City, Clare, Monona, Algona, Epworth, and Elkader, all in Iowa, St. Paul, MN, Oregon and Chicago, IL, where she spent her teaching career with the elementary grades. She retired to Mount Loretto in 1999 and celebrated her 60th Jubilee in 2008. Sister Francesca enjoyed her hobbies of reading, crocheting, card playing, enjoying nature, and she valued prayer and community service. She was a volunteer tutor from the very first day of the Presentation Lantern Center opening in 2002. Throughout her entire life one constant for her has been her love for her community of Presentation Sisters. “To me community is everything,” said Sister Francesca. “Community is life-giving.”
Surviving are her sisters, Mary Presseller and Joanne Homan, nieces, nephews, and the Sisters of the Presentation with whom she shared her life for 71 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Anna Misch, Esther Hall, Margaret Watry, Dorothy Palmiter, Sister Elizabeth (Helen) Presseller, her brothers, Paul, Bill, Lawrence, Ralph and Joseph.

Dan Schmitt
Some called him “Hooks”; some called him “Beard”; and to many he was the “mailman.” Dan Schmitt was a loving husband and his kids would say he was the best Dad in the world. But of all the nicknames and titles he held, his favorite name of all was “Grandpa.” He will be missed dearly.
On January 3, 2020, Dan passed away in his home at age 70. He joined his parents, Henrietta M. (Hufnagel), Aloysius P. Schmitt, and step-mother, Germaine (Schrobilgen) in heaven. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jim Schmitt, and his sister, Pat (Schmitt) Steger.
Dan grew up on his parent’s farm in Rickardsville, where he and Kathy later raised their four children. When Dan wasn’t milking cows, doing chores, and spending time with his kids, he was hitting home runs at the town baseball field, cheering on the NY Yankees, or downloading the latest hit music on his Ipod.
Surviving are his wife of forty-eight years, Kathy (Ruden), and their four children; Jenny (Dave) Kettering; Sarah Sherman (and special friend, Mark Gigous); Josh (Jayna) Schmitt; and Callie (Ryan) Anglese: His fourteen grandchildren, Stephen (Paula), Hailey, Gabrielle, Ben, Hunter, Collin, Aleece, Casey, Leah, Boen, Hazel, Aubrey, Brecken, and Dawson. Dan is also survived by eight other siblings.
Friends and family are invited to visit Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 7th from 2p.m. to 7p.m. A special prayer service will be held at 4p.m. There will be a private burial service on Wednesday, January 8th for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, Dan has requested donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Dr. Hermann, and the medical staff at Grandriver Medical Group.
Mary Ann Gansen
Mary Ann Gansen, 77, of Cuba City, Wisconsin, died Friday, January 3, 2020, at Epione Pavilion in Cuba City. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at St. Patrick’s Church in Benton with Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, January 7 at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City where there will be a parish wake service at 3:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 9-10:15 a.m. Wednesday at the church before the service.
Mary Ann was born on October 2, 1942 in Cuba City, Wisconsin, the daughter of Bernard and Romona (Bertjens) Hoppenjan. She married Leo Gansen Sr., on May 3, 2003 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Epworth, Iowa. He preceded her in death on January 31, 2009.
Mary Ann graduated from Cuba City High School in 1960. She was employed at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, in the Nutrition Department. Family was very important to Mary Ann, and she especially cherished her grandchildren, Tyler and Devon. She loved spending time with family and friends, was always ready to lend a helping hand, and had a special love for cats. Mary Ann also enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and embroidery.
Survivors include her son, Timothy (Effie) Voels, Wantagh, NY; two sisters, Nancy Hoppenjan, Cuba City, WI, and Norma (Dick) Pedley, Leadmine, WI; two brothers, Chuck (Darlene) Hoppenjan, Cuba City, WI, and Dave (June) Hoppenjan, Darlington, WI; and two grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Romona Hoppenjan; a nephew, Steve Hoppenjan; and a niece, Julie Haldemann.

Dorothy Henry
Dorothy “Dottie” Henry, 92, of Dubuque died Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Sunnycrest Manor with family by her side. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2020 at the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Funeral Home and Crematory where visitation will be held Thursday, January 9 from 3 to 7 pm and Friday, January 10 from 9 to 10:15 a.m.
Dottie was born October 25, 1927 in Dubuque, daughter of Emmett and Lucille (May) McGovern. After graduating from Dubuque Senior High School, she worked at “The Telephone Company” in Dubuque.
She married Wilfred Joseph Wieser and had nine children together. She was a mother and homemaker for many years.
She later worked at John Deere for seven years.
In March of 1975, she married Lyle Francis Henry. He preceded her in death on January 28, 2012.
Dottie enjoyed reading, horseback riding, bowling, bingo, and talking (arguing) politics with whoever would dare! She was also an avid card player. She was a longtime member of the Tri-State Saddle Club and the Dubuque Women’s Bowling Association.
She is survived by five daughters, Sue (Lonnie) Cox of Canadian, TX, Deb (Rick) Henry of Carroll, IA, Linda (Joe) Gammon of Sante Fe, NM, Jan (Dennis) Dodson of Poolville, TX, and Sally Culbertson of North Carolina; three sons, Jeff (Joan) Wieser of White Bear Lake, MN, Jay (Carla) Wieser of Dubuque and Scott Wieser of Iowa City, IA; stepchildren, Linda Droessler of New York, Rod (Nancy) Henry of Dubuque, Sue (Charlie) Ruff of Dubuque, Joe (Tammy) Henry of Dubuque, Mark Henry of Dubuque, and Patty (Barry) Walen of Dubuque.
She is also survived by her sister, Cheryl (Bob) McGovern of Verona, WI; brother, Pat (Joan) McGovern of Berlin, MD and many grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren; many other relatives and a special friend, Clarence “CJ” Adams of Dubquue.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; her former husband, Wilfed Wieser; son, Gerald Wieser; stepson, Scott Henry; grandson, Jed R. Henry; and brothers, Robert, Louis “Bill” and Shirley, and Fr. Gerald McGovern.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Sunnycrest Manor for the excellent care she received by the staff; also to the Hospice of Dubuque for the comforting help given Dottie while finishing her journey on this earth.
Sister Deanna Marie Carr, BVM
Sister Deanna Marie Carr, BVM, (Bernita), 79, 1050 Carmel Drive, Dubuque, Iowa, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020, at Marian Hall.
Visitation will be from 9-10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020, in the Marian Hall Chapel. Sharing of Memories will be at 10:15 a.m., followed immediately by the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial is in the Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Sister Deanna served the BVM congregation as director of associates, secretary to the president, assistant archivist and archivist. She was the director of the National Sisters Vocation Conference. She ministered as pastoral administrator in Stockett and Centerville, Mont.; lay ecclesial pastoral coordinator in Port Orchard, Wash.; ministry outreach coordinator for the Diocese of Great Falls-Billings, Mont.; and pastoral life director for the Archdiocese of Seattle. She also was a secondary teacher in Saint Paul, Minn.
She was born on May 20, 1940, in Portland, Ore., to William and Lillian Messner Carr She entered the BVM congregation on Aug. 2, 1959, from Christ the King Parish in Seattle. She professed first vows on Feb. 2, 1962, and final vows on July 16, 1967.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by sisters Bernadette (John) Hart, Seattle; Colleen (Mike) Wartelle, Everett, Wash.; and Judith (John) Downing, Seattle; niece(s); nephew(s); cousins, including Sister Kathleen Carr, BVM; and the Sisters of Charity, BVM, with whom she shared life for 60 years.

Elaine M. Clancy
Elaine Mary (Hanifan) Clancy, 93, formerly of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on December 19, 2019, in Wyoming.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2020 at St. Columbkille’s Catholic Church with Rev. Paul Attah-Nsiah officiating. Burial will be Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road where a wake service will be at 6:45 p.m.
Elaine was born on May 9th, 1926 in Dubuque, Iowa the daughter of Cyril and Madeline (Rhomberg) Hanifan. She married Joseph J. Clancy on July 20, 1945, at the Treasure Island Naval Base in San Francisco. In her younger days she worked as a telephone operator before marrying. After marriage, Elaine traveled through five states following the career path of Joseph, and she made hundreds of friends along the way. Elaine was always an active member of the catholic church in the many towns in which they lived.
In addition to raising six children, Elaine loved to sew, play cards, crafts and home decorating. She was the neighbor who always brought a cake to the new neighbors moving in, or was the clown at the church carnival, or invited total strangers to stay at our home during a winter blizzard.
Surviving are her children: Jolaine “Jody” (Thomas) Goldman, of Palmetto, FL., Pamela Espinoza, PhD of Thermopolis WY., Michael (Cindy) Clancy, of Thermopolis WY., Patrick (Donna) Clancy, of Athol, ID., Joseph Timothy Clancy, of Thermopolis, WY and Sean (Karen) Clancy, of Crown Point IN. Elaine also has 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law Ruth (James) Clancy, along with many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband and best friend Joseph on October 10, 2008; her mother and father; three sisters Catherine Hanifan, Jean Hanifan and Shirley Jones; sisters-in-law Irene, Agnes and Bunny Clancy; brothers-in-law Charles Clancy, Harry Welsh, James Clancy.
Bonnie M. Osterhoff
Bonnie Maureen Osterhoff, 67 of Dubuque, passed away on Wednesday, January 1st, 2020 at MercyOne Medical Center following a sudden illness.
A visitation will be held at the Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 5th with a memorial service directly following at 4:00 p.m.
Bonnie was born on November 28th, 1952 in Dubuque, Iowa; the daughter of Theodore and Mildred (Naubauer) Jellison. She married the love of her life, Tom A. Osterhoff, on December 16th, 1983 and together they shared 36 wonderful years. They enjoyed going camping together and their annual trips to Las Vegas; treasuring the time with family and friends. Bonnie liked playing horseshoes, bowling and gambling at local casinos. She was a member of 32nd St. Women’s Horseshoe League and many bowling leagues. She loved spoiling her fur babies; most recently her cat, Zoey.
She worked at Zayre’s, Econo Foods and later with Aramark at Loras College, retiring 5 years ago.
Bonnie is survived by her dear husband Tom; her brothers Ted Jellison and Jay (Mary Kay) Jellison; her sisters Joan (David Erickson) Owens, Jody Droullard, Carol (Baird) Sessions; sisters-in-law Karilyn (Jim) Steffen and Marilyn (Gary) Hillard; many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Jill Jellison.
In lieu of flowers, a Bonnie Osterhoff memorial fund has been established.

Florabelle A. Kluesner
Florabelle A. “Babe” Kluesner, 95, of Farley, Iowa passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Stonehill Care Center in Dubuque, Iowa.
Visitation for Babe will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Reiff Funeral Home in Farley, Iowa, where a prayer service will be held at 1:30 p.m. and the Farley American Legion Post #650 will meet in a body at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be held after 9 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian burial for Babe will be held on 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 6, 2020 at St. Clements Catholic Church in Bankston, Iowa with Rev. Michael Schueller presiding and Rev. Steve Rosonke concelebrating and assisting Deacon Dan O’Connell. Burial will be held in St. Clements Cemetery in Bankston, Iowa.
She was born June 10, 1924 in Bankston, Iowa, daughter of Frank and Amelia (Ovel) Osterhaus. She grew up on a farm near Bankston and attended grade school and high school St. Clements Catholic grade school and high schools in Bankston, IA. During her high school years, Babe was the cheerleading captain for the St. Clement’s Champion Girls’ Basketball team.
On June 11, 1945, she was united in marriage to Merlin Kluesner at St. Clements Catholic Church in Bankston, Iowa. He preceded her in death in October 28, 1987. Together they farmed near Bankston. They retired to Dyersville in 1980. Babe moved to Farley in 1996, where she enjoyed many great years.
Babe will be remembered by many as she touched many lives in a positive way in her 95 years. She will be especially remembered for her “Blue eyes” and sparkles that she enjoyed wearing whether it was jewelry, scarves or clothing. She always glowed. Babe was a fashion diva even at age 95!
Babe was a member of the St. Joseph’s Parish in Farley, Iowa and a former member of the St. Joseph’s Altar and Rosary Society and the Catholic Daughters of Americas Presentation Court # 1460.
Those left to cherish her memories include her nine children, Diana (Terry) Hosch, Tom (Mary) Kluesner both of Dubuque, IA, Casey Kluesner of Epworth, IA, Neal (Connie) Kluesner, Joe (Janet) Kluesner all of Bankston, Bev (Dick) Anstoetter of Farley, IA, Sheila (Kevin) Tegeler of Dyersville, Kelly (Krisanne) Kluesner of Dubuque, IA, and Terry (Lynn) Kluesner of Dyersville, IA.
Babe’s pride and joy were her 26 grandchildren (who were all her favorites), Paula Huff, Pat Hosch, Ben, Matt & Nate Kluesner, Erin Meyer, Kara Urbain, Kortney Glickert, Jesse, Josh and Jordan Kluesner, Kristin McCarthy, Amy Flynn, Kevin, Michael, Ryan and Luke Kluesner, Nick Knepper, Katie Moltzan, Robbie and Tony Anstoetter, Sarah Tegeler, Ryan and Alex Funke and Nicole and Lauren Kluesner; 27 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson. She was also looking forward to welcoming 4 new great grandchildren this year and a second great great grandchild. Babe will always be remembered by her grandkids as “Granny Babe” and/or “Grandma Sparkles.”
She is also preceded in death by her parents; her step mother, Frances (Hermsen) Osterhaus; her son, Robert Kluesner in January 27, 1963; son-in-law, John Knepper in 1990; four sisters, Clarinda (George) Klostermann, Sylvia (Ed) Breitbach, Evelyn (Joe) Friedman and Verna (LeRoy) Klosterman; two brothers, Wilfred Osterhaus (in infancy) and Cletus (Emerald) Osterhaus; her father and mother-in-law, Peter and Katherine Kluesner; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry (Donna) Kluesner, Sylvester (Marie) Kluesner, Bernard (Dorothy) Kluesner and Mary Catherine Kluesner.

Donald E. (Sam) Dalsing, 84, of rural Hazel Green, WI, peacefully passed away on Thursday January 2, 2020 at Bell Tower Retirement Community in East Dubuque, Ill.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30am on Monday, January 6, 2020 at Immaculate Conception Church in Kieler, WI, with Rev. Bernard Rott officiating. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 5:00pm on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Immaculate Conception Parish Center in Kieler, where the scripture wake service will be at 12:45pm Sunday. There will also be a visitation from 9:15 to 10:15am on Monday at the Parish Center.
The Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, IL, is in charge of arrangements.
Don was born on February 6, 1935, near Kieler, WI, the son of George and Sophie (Franzen) Dalsing. He was united in marriage to Jane T. Hoppman on August 18, 1956 at St. Joseph Church in Sinsinawa, WI. She preceded him in death on May 18, 2015.
Don graduated from Loras Academy in 1953 and worked at Sears and Roebuck Company for 30 years prior to his retirement.
Don was a proud and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an avid gardener, an avid euchre player and sports fan and enjoyed coaching and officiating basketball for many years. He was a proud supporter of his children and grandchildren in all their endeavors. The family will always remember the annual fishing trips to Danbury, WI., with Donnie and Jane.
Don served on the Southwestern School Board and was an active member of Immaculate Conception Parish in Kieler, WI.
Surviving are his five (5) children: Vicki (Dale) Uthe and their children, Becky, Emily, Kara and Callie; Dennis (Shari) Dalsing and their children, Amber, Elizabeth and Andrew; Lynn (Tom) Hendricks and their children, Steven and Amanda; Kristi (Tom) Runde and their children, Rachael, Jacob and Jillian; and Scott (Deirdre) Dalsing and their children, Tighe, Dr. Taylor Dalsing, and Tierney; three (3) sisters-in-law, Betty Hoppman, Mrytle Busch and Ellen (Larry) Freiburger; and twenty (20) great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Sophie Dalsing and a sister, Elaine Brandt.
Don’s family wishes to “thank” the nurses and staff of Bell Tower Retirement Community and the staff at Hospice of Dubuque for the outstanding care given to their father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Eleanor Schmid Wunderlich, 99, of Dubuque, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at Mercy One.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1700 Lincoln Ave. Mass will be private for family. Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 John F. Kennedy Rd., Dubuque, is entrusted with arrangements.
Eleanor was born September 8, 1920, the daughter of Otto and Myrtle (Korman) Schmid. She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School. Eleanor drove school bus and Key Line, and later was employed as a clerk at the Oky-Doky.
She was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the VFW Auxiliary. Eleanor was an avid reader and bowler.
Eleanor is survived by her children, Imelda Rife, Lee (William) Latham, and Rain Wunderlich, all of Dubuque; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Janaan (Dr. Benoit) Page; two brothers, Walter and Richard Schmid; her infant sister, Margaret Schmid; and her parents.

Richard C. Moore
Richard C. Moore, 82, of Cascade, IA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 1, 2020.
Visitation for Richard will be held from 2 to 8 p.m., Sunday, January 5, 2020 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, Iowa, where a prayer service will be held at 2 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Monday, January 6, 2020 after 9 a.m. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian burial for Richard will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 6, 2020 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Cascade, IA, with Rev. Douglas Loecke presiding. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Cascade with flag presentation done by the Cascade American Legion Post #528.
Richard was born on October 22, 1937 in Dubuque, Iowa, son of John and Viola (Fettkether) Moore. He received his education from St. Patrick’s Catholic School in Garryowen, IA. On June 11, 1960, he was united in marriage to Patricia O’Shea at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa.
Richard was a master carpenter for many years. He had a great devotion for his family and often shared his love for cooking. He was also an avid Pilot and will long be remembered for his theatrical flying feats.
He is a member of St. Martin’s Parish in Cascade, Iowa. Richard was a Veteran having served in the United States Navy. He was also a member of the Quiet Birdmen’s Club.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Moore of Cascade, IA; six children, Tina (Jim) Becker of Watkins, IA, Sheila Moore of Dubuque, IA, Marcia (the Late Tom) Motsch of East Dubuque, IL, Molly Moore of Cedar Rapids, IA, Rick (Brenda) Moore of Dubuque, IA, Sue (Rickey) Francois of Cedar Rapids, IA; 14 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; three brothers, Fred (Mazie) Moore of LaMotte, IA, Lyle (Ruth) Moore of Peosta, IA and Terry (Arlene) Moore of Bernard, IA; and several nieces and nephews. He was also survived by his beloved beagle, Bo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Michael Moore on December 13, 1971, son-in-law, Tom Motsch on November 4, 2019; and a brother, Jack Moore.

Jean M. Ley
Jean Marie Ley, 85, of Dubuque, died Wednesday, January 1, 2020, at Unity Point Health-Finley Hospital with her family at her bedside.
Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday, January 6, 2020, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 3860 Asbury Road. To honor Jean’s life, a memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM directly following the visitation at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Cremation Service with Deacon Mike Ellis officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date.
Jean was born February 2, 1934, in Dubuque, the daughter of George and Margaret (Greenwood) Dunwoody. On August 26, 1961, she married Donald L. “Stretch” Ley at Resurrection Catholic Church. Together they shared many years of marriage before Stretch preceded her death on August 5, 2012.
In her younger years, she enjoyed mowing her lawn, and going gambling on the boat. Jean loved to cook, some would even say she was an excellent cook. Later in life she enjoyed playing cribbage and cards, as well as watching the Chicago Cubs. She was also very passionate about politics and adored her pets.
Those left to honor her memory include her children; Edward (Kelli) Allen, Kenneth (Amy) Ley, Jeffrey Ley, and Donald (Carol Boleyn) Ley Jr., all of Dubuque; her grandchildren, Cris Allen, Travis Allen, Crystal Allen, Jessica (Cory) Schaeckenbach, Noah Ley, and Jackson Ley; her great grandchildren, Nehemiah Benevides, Isaiah Benevides, and another due in June; a brother, Jimmy Dunwoody; a sister Mary Ann Dunwoody; brother-in-law John Ley; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, David Allen; infant daughter, Linda; and her husband’s parents, Clarence J. and Mary “Mae” (Kotopis) Ley; sister, Joanne (Tony) Beaver, sister in law, Bonnie Dunwoody and a brother in law Kenny Ley.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.

Jerry C. Donohoo
Jerry C. Donohoo, 71, of Madison, Wisconsin, formerly of Cuba City, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, January 1, 2020, of complications due to melanoma at Epione Pavilion in Cuba City.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Cuba City with Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 9-10:45 a.m. Tuesday at the church before the service. Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City is assisting the family.
Jerry was born on February 24, 1948, in Cuba City, Wisconsin, the son of Donald C. and Jean (Talbert) Donohoo. Jerry attended Cuba City High School and graduated in 1966. Later he graduated from UW-Platteville with a business degree. Jerry worked in the family business at Donohoo Furniture for 25 years. He later moved to Madison to continue working in furniture sales and later at PDQ and Kwik Trip until his recent retirement. His coworkers and the people he met there made his job very enjoyable.
Jerry enjoyed sports immensely. He participated in basketball and baseball in high school. He also was an avid Packer and Badger fan. Jerry loved to spend time with his family. His family was very important to him.
Jerry is survived by one brother, Ray (Sandy) Donohoo, Glendale, WI; two sisters, Darlene (Dan) Wallace, Mineral Point, WI, and Sharon Donohoo, Shullsburg, WI; and a special friend of the family, Mary Foley. Jerry is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Jean; a nephew, Matthew Donohoo; and a niece, Stephanie Wallace.
A special thank you to the staff of Epione Pavilion and Agrace Hospice for the kindness and compassion they showed Jerry.
