Ross L. Noah
Ross L. Noah, age 69 of Cuba City, Wisconsin completed his earthly journey on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at home, surrounded by his loving family. To honor Ross’ life, a Celebration of Life will be held at Doolittle’s Pub and Eatery, 112 South Main Street, Cuba City, Wisconsin, 53807. Family and friends of Ross’ may gather, visit and share memories together on Friday, June 14, 2019 after 5:00 p.m. The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Ross’ family.
Ross was born on March 29, 1950 in California, one of four sons to Roscoe and Lida Noah-Shriver. He grew up enjoying the California sun daily and savored every opportunity which came his way to embrace it fully. Ross was a machinist by trade and spent over 28 years with the B. Pecks Corporation, before investing another 8 years with John Deere after moving to Wisconsin. Ross had a strong work ethic, but it was definitely when his free hours arrived in the day that Ross truly lived joyfully. He had an incurable affinity for sports cars, classic rock-n-roll, skydiving and socializing in any situation he found himself, but we’d be remiss not to disclose that his greatest moments were likely when he was out on the water skiing with his friends. He was the proud founding member of the Blue Balls Convention Ski Club of California and as the group grew with each passing year, so did Ross’ admiration for his creation.
Ross was surely a man who enjoyed a little fun in his days, but he also knew how to embrace a little downtime therapy in his woodshop as well. His talent was immeasurable and so many of his unique projects will surely be blessing countless homes for years to come. Ross was a bright light in the world throughout his 69 years and his strength was quite evident as he was forced to battle cancer on three different fronts over the last ten years. This final battle sadly has taken all the Ross had left to give, but never once did he complain about the hand he was holding. A true gentleman till the end and all who knew and loved him now pray for peace and understanding as he is finally done facing his earthly struggles. Thank you for the abundance of memories you’ve left behind Ross which will definitely help to mend the many broken hearts around you and may the Lord keep you safe in His loving arms until we meet again.
Those left behind to cherish the memory of Ross include,
his loving daughter,
Danielle Sherman, Sacramento, California;
his granddaughter,
Brooke Beckham, Sacramento, California;
his 4 sisters-in-law,
Barbara Noah-Whitcher, Santa Rosa, California,
Linda Noah, Santa Rosa, California,
Della Noah, Janesville, California,
and Tina Noah, Fairplay, California;
his good friend and cousin,
Marshall (Dee) Peyton, Galena, Illinois;
along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.
Ross was preceded in death by his parents; and 3 brothers, Meldon Noah, Phillip Noah and Paul Noah.
Ross’ family would like to thank all of the doctors who have helped him to fight his cancers so courageously over the last decade. To the nurses and staff at Hospice of Dubuque for their professional care and gentle support. And a very special thank you to all of Ross’ friends and neighbors who have cared for him just like a member of their own families. You have all made such a beautiful statement about humanity through your outpouring of time and please know that Ross, and we, appreciate absolutely everything you’ve done. May God bless you all for your kindnesses!

He proudly served on the front lines in the Korean War and was honorably discharged on February 16, 1953. Upon returning to the states he married Anna Mae (Reiter) in 1955 in Omaha, NE. Together they made their path through life sharing 61 years of the peaks and valleys of marriage and lived in the same home throughout their married life. Jim and Anna Mae were long time members of Resurrection Church and Jim was blessed one year to be the lucky winner of a vehicle at the Annual Resurrection Parish Festival.
Jim entered the work force first working at the former Caradco before becoming employed at John Deere Dubuque Works. He retired from John Deere in 1986 after 30 years of loyal service. After retirement he enjoyed driving for RTA and drove the route to Iowa City and immensely enjoyed all the people he met while driving back and forth from Dubuque.
In the early years of their marriage they owned a cabin on the island in Guttenberg and spent many enjoyable years with their children on weekends and vacations. As a family, they enjoyed camping and that was where they could be found if not at their home. He progressed from their truck camper to their motor home, a luxury he never thought he would enjoy as much as they did. They traveled to many states and enjoyed visiting many state parks across the nation.
Jim was a hard- working, blue collar individual with a laugh that was difficult not to distinguish if he was in the vicinity. He spoke often how little they once had and yet how little it took to create happiness for them at a time when he was fortunate to be comfortable. In his later years, his faith was reignited and it was his faith that guided him through experiencing the loss of sight and the difficulties of breathing. He was grateful to be a member of his church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church, 60 S Algona, Dubuque. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Hazel Green.
Dan was born on January 3, 1943, at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque, the son of Richard C. and Agnes L (Ferring) Olds. Dan was a life-long resident of Dubuque and loved his city.
He married his teenage sweetheart, Phyllis E. (Curtis) Olds on July 13, 1963 and showered her with love and attention throughout their 56 years together. They were blessed with two children, Kathy and Roy.
Dan always had a project in progress and met each day with vitality and a plan. He enjoyed a career working with metal and was employed at the Adams Company for over 30 years, initially as a machinist, and later, where he found his perfect niche as a tool maker. He took great pride in his work and, given a chunk of metal, could create about anything that could be turned on a lathe, drilled, or milled.
He had a penchant for automobiles, driving them, fixing them, and disassembling and rebuilding their bodies and motors, especially Oldsmobiles. He generously shared those talents, helping numerous friends, neighbors, and family members with car purchases and maintenance. Dan also enjoyed riding his motorcycles, especially his BMW R90S, and toured with his wife and friends throughout the U.S., Canada, and Nova Scotia.
A classic-car enthusiast, he could be found every Thursday evening at Gary’s Graffiti Night and every Saturday morning at Tommy Thompson’s A&W station for coffee and car-talk with friends. He was an active member of the Tri-State Automobile Club, participating in club initiatives, breakfasts, dinners, tours and formal social events. He was also a member of the Oldsmobile Club of America, plus the Illinois Valley and the ‘57 Oldsmobile clubs.
Dan was a kind and compassionate person and was sought out by many for his innate capability to listen. If he could help someone out, he always did.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Phyllis; his daughter, Kathy (Barry) Adams, of Overland Park KS; his son, Roy Olds of Dubuque; six grandchildren: LeighAnn (Andrew) Duve, Erica Olds, Rachel (Nick) Nurre, Ryan Olds, and Ben and Emily Adams; three great-grandchildren; his sister, Lynda (Don) Vickerman of Dewitt and his brother, Dave (Donna) Schmitt of Dickeyville; his former daughter-in-law, Angie Olds; his sister-in-law, Eleanor Hamilton, and brother-in-law, Don Curtis; his step-mother, Dolores Olds of Monona, and his six half-siblings: Janet, Ardy, Rick, Tom, Jane, and David Olds; plus many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters: Judy (Buck) Loeffelholz, Jackie (Ed) Jansen, and Diane (Phil) Karberg; and his father and mother-in-law, Oswald and Beryle Curtis.
