Edith C. Lammers

Edith C. Lammers, 93 of Dyersville, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Mercy One Senior Care.

Visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa. Visitation will continue from 9 – 10 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the funeral mass.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at St Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville with burial at the church cemetery. Rev Chris Podhajsky will officiate.

Edith was born on October 7, 1930, in Petersburg, Iowa, daughter of Raymond and Rose (Wulfekuhle) Lammers. She was united in marriage to Ambrose Bildstein. Together they farmed and had seven children. The couple later divorced, he preceded her in death. She married Richard Rahe and they divorced.

Edith is survived by six children; Karen (Denny) Loeffler of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Dee Smith of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Ken (Mely) Bildstein of Sun City Center, Florida, Deb (Steve) Siegworth of Dubuque, Iowa, Leslie (Ron) Brimeyer of West Des Moines, Iowa, Wayne Bildstein of Mt. Vernon, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren with another on the way; one sister Helen Rodenberg of Cedar Rapids.

Edith was a member of St Francis Xavier Basilica Catholic Parish. She enjoyed playing euchre, traveling, and tending to her flower garden. She and her sister- in-law (Mary Jo Lammers), one of her best friends, could often be found taking a road trip to their favorite restaurant or hitting one of many local auctions. Edith attended school in Petersburg, Iowa. She was employed by the Ertl Company, and later pursued a GED from Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC), earning a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) designation. She later worked full-time with the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA), a long-time passion in her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter (Barbara); her first husband; two brothers, Edward Lammers, Ambrose (Pete) Lammers, sister Norma Bildstein and numerous brother and sister in-laws.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the entire staff at Mercy One Senior Care in Dyersville, Iowa and Hospice of Dubuque for their compassionate care and continual support during our Mother’s journey. A special thank you to Chris O. who always humored Mom that she was one of the Petersburg ladies.

Judith Cottrell

Judith (Judie) Cottrell, 83, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 13, 2023,
surrounded by her loving family.  To honor Judie’s life, family and friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., on Monday, October 16, 2023, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street.  Services will follow at 11:00 a.m., held by her son-in-law, Pastor Kevin Hahn.  Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens.

Judie was born June 23, 1940, in Dubuque. She met her husband Jerry Cottrell when she was 14 at the Busy Bee Cafe. He walked her home that night and the rest is history. They married on February 13, 1960, made their home in Dubuque, and later welcomed four beloved children. They shared a lifetime of love together and recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.

Judie worked at Sears as a sales associate for nearly 30 years, where she was known to be a favorite among her coworkers and customers with her cheerful disposition and one-of-a-kind humor. Judie was fashionable, enjoyed bowling, dancing, and thrifting. Although she had many passions, Judie was most devoted to her family.

She loved people more than anything and never met a stranger. Judie was the life of the party and always had a good joke to share. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with others, often hosting family and friends in her home and making the holidays extra special. Judie was a devout Christian and a faithful member of the church throughout her life.

Survivors include her husband Jerry; children Kevin (Joli) Cottrell of Blaine, MN, Cheri (Kevin) Hahn of Pleasant Hill, IA, Ray (Nancy) Cottrell of Eden Prairie, MN, Jerry “JL” (Cheryl) Cottrell of Dubuque; grandchildren Crista, Korey, Kaylee, Jack, Ally, Casey, Jonathan, Katelyn, and Kirsten; great-grandchildren Amelia, Hannah, Jovie, Hudson, and Chloe; sisters Rita Cottrell and Ruth “Sis” Rote; brothers Tom Rath and Dennis Rath; and sister-in-law Kaytee Rath.

She was preceded in death by her parents Henry Rath, Ruth and Mel Hemenway; parents-in-law Ray and Mary Cottrell; brothers Armand, H.V., Cecil, and Richard Rath; and brothers-in-laws Roger and Robert “Bob” Cottrell.

Judie always signed every personal note with her favorite verse, “John 3:16.” Her family and friends find comfort knowing she’s now resting in the arms of her Lord and Savior.

We would like to thank the wonderful nursing staff at UnityPoint Health Finley Hospital for their compassionate care of not only Judie but the entire family.

Allen R. Campbell

Allen R. Campbell, 72, of Dubuque, formerly of Maquoketa, Iowa, lost his battle with cancer on Tursday, October 12, 2023.  Allen passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and beloved Katherine at Ennoble Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dubuque.

Allen Ray Campbell was born on April 1, 1951 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Lester Earl and Esther Shirley (Hanson) Campbell.  He was a 1969 graduate of Maquoketa High School.  His hardworking nature was evident in his versatility in employment throughout his lifetime.  Ranging from working at Caterpillar to driving trucks to cooking as a chef and working for MSI Paving Company.

More than just his work, Allen was a man of spirited hobbies. His love for collecting coins was surpassed only by his passion for the outdoors. Whether it was fishing trips or hunting outings, the experiences he shared with his sons were cherished.

Those left to honor his memory include his children, Shannon (Chad) Veach of Maquoketa, IA, Karri (Jason) Frank of Blue Grass, IA, and Matthew Yarolem of Maquoketa, IA; 6 grandchildren, Ella, Avery, Lilee, Sydney, Caelyn, and Hadley; and brothers, John (Sherry) Campbell of Maquoketa, IA, and Bill (DeeGee) Campbell of Carrizozo, NM.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son Zachary Allen Campbell.

Friends and family may gather to celebrate Allen’s life with a memorial luncheon/reception beginning at 4 P.M. on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2023, at the Eagles Club in Maquoketa.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  A private family burial will be held at the Sutton Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, at a later date.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, an Allen R. Campbell memorial fund has been established.

Kay A. Greenwood

Kay A. Greenwood, also known as Mugsy to her family, gained entrance into the Kingdom of God on Thursday, October 12, 2023. To celebrate Kay’s life we will have visitation and funeral services at the Word of Life Church, 4450 Dodge Street, with visitation on Friday, October 20, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., and funeral services starting promptly thereafter with Pastor Loren Hirschy officiating.  Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens.  Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street is assisting the family.

Kay was born on March 24, 1941, in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Lyman and Violet (Gratton) Jones.

She graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy in 1959.  She met her husband Jerry at the Melody Mill Ballroom where she gained the nick name Kitty Jones when she got up to sing with the band. He instantly became smitten and they married two years later at Holy Ghost Church in Dubuque, Iowa on February 4, 1961.  They danced thru 62 anniversaries together, even winning a few contests. They had a full and loving marriage.

Kay loved to clean.  She worked as a matron for many years for the school system, including Jefferson  and Lincoln Schools, Dr. Nemmers and Dr. Meester’s offices, and Finley Hospital.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, her infant son, Jeffrey, her brother, Gary, a sister, Carol, and a brother-in-law, Virgil Rans.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry, her children, Steven (Meg) Greenwood, Kurt (Nancy) Greenwood and Renee (Jeffrey) Speaker. Grandchildren, Roger, Kyle (Natalie), Hope, Tessa, Emily, Brandon, Kaitlyn. Great grandchild, Cameron. Her brother, Allen (Lois) Jones, her sisters, Sandy (Gary) Welborn, Jane (Jerry) Gilbert, and Karen Rans, and many nieces and nephews.

Kay’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff of both Ennoble and Caring Initiatives Hospice for all of the outstanding care they provided for Kay.

Lawrence R. Schroeder

Lawrence R. “Dick” Schroeder, 91, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on October 12th, 2023, at Bethany Home.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 16th, 2023, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road with a wake service to be at 2:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 17th, 2023, at Holy Spirit Parish, Sacred Heart Church with Fr. Steven Garner officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #6 and the Iowa Army National Guard.

Dick was born on July 28, 1932, in Dubuque, Iowa the son of Lawrence and Elecia (Miller) Schroeder. He attended St. Mary’s Grade School, St. Columbkille High School, and Loras Academy for college.

He married Pat A. Bauer on February 14, 1953, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He served in the US Army 1st Airborne Division from 1953 to 1955. He worked for National Butter Co, Dubuque Packing Co. and Farmland Foods. He was on the Board of Director’s with Dupaco Community Credit Union from 1973 to 2010.

Dick loved his beautiful family, and they meant the world to him.

He is survived by his wife Pat; daughter Mary (John) Ervolino; sons David (Deb) Schroeder, and Tom (Mary Kay) Schroeder; daughters-in-law Kathy Schroeder and Chris Schroeder; his brother Don Schroeder; sister-in-law Shirley Fuller; brother-in-law Tom (Judi) Bauer; sister-in-law Sam Bauer along with 16 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sons Mike and Paul; his parents Larry and Elecia; father and mother-in-law Joseph and Catherine Bauer; a sister Pat Schroeder; sisters-in-law Estelle Schroeder, Bernice Bauer and Marie Bauer; brothers-in-law Merlin Fuller, Deeder Bauer and Bob Bauer; nephews Jeff and Dennis Schroeder, Jr. Bauer and Jim Parker.

The family wishes to thank Hospice of Dubuque and the staff of Bethany Home for all their wonderful care they gave to Dick.

Doris M. Neis

Doris M. Neis, 80, of Dickeyville, Wisconsin, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Dickeyville, Wisconsin, with Rev. Bernard Rott officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4-8:00 p.m. Monday, October 16 at Casey-McNett Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cuba City, Wisconsin, where there will be a Parish Rosary Service at 3:40 p.m. Friends may also call from 9-10:15 a.m. Tuesday at the church prior to the service.

Doris was born on December 12, 1942 in Cuba City, Wisconsin, the daughter of Peter and Celestine (Brink) Oyen. She graduated from Potosi High School. Doris was united in marriage to Peter J. Neis on August 17, 1963 at St. Andrew’s Church, Tennyson, Wisconsin.

Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her faith was very important to her. Doris was a member of the Holy Ghost Altar Society and CCW. She assisted with the religious education program helping children learn prayers. Doris enjoyed traveling including fishing trips, trips with her sisters and family trips to the Lake of the Ozarks, Branson and Green Bay. She enjoyed reading and doing puzzles. Above all, Doris cherished her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Doris is survived by her husband, Pete Neis, Dickeyville; five children, William “Bill” Neis, Platteville, WI, Lisa (GJ) Franz, Madison, WI, Duane Neis, Lancaster, WI, Gina (Duane “Pete”) Brown, Bluff City, TN, and Lance (Kim) Neis, Cuba City, WI; siblings, Darlean Sabers, Cyril (Aleise) Oyen, LaVern (Marlene) Oyen, Margaret Eastlick, Betty Peacock, Ruth (Ron) Richardson and Dale (Nancy) Oyen; sisters-in-law, Gracie Oyen, Rita Oyen and Delores Oyen; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Todd Neis; siblings, Harold (Rosie), Eldon (Doris), Ronald, Philip, Nilus, James and Linda Oyen; and brothers-in-law, Eugene Sabers, Gerald Eastlick and Gary Peacock.

In lieu of flowers, a Doris M. Neis Memorial Fund has been established. Memorials may be sent to the funeral home at 123 N. Jackson St., Cuba City, WI 53807.

Sue A. Donovan

Sue Ann Donovan, 59, of Dubuque, died Thursday, October 12, 2023, at the Unity Point Health-Finley Hospital in Dubuque.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until 10:45 am on Monday, October 16, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Key West.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Sue will be 11:00 am Monday, October 16, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Key West with Rev. Monsignor Thomas E. Toale as the Celebrant.

Sue was born August 21, 1964, in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Floyd and Lu (Kirshbaum) Thompson. On August 21, 1992, she married Michael “Spike” Donovan in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Key West.

Sue graduated from Wahlert High School and went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree from Loras College. Sue loved spending time on the river, fishing and waterskiing. She also enjoyed canning, going to the casino and playing euchre.

Survivors include her husband, Michael “Spike” Donovan of Dubuque; her brother, Robert (Bette) Thompson of East Dubuque, IL; her sister, Marsha (Dennis) Wieser of Hazel Green, WI; father and mother-in-law, Ron (Pat) Donovan of Dubuque; and siblings-in-law, Ann Curoe of Bernard; Rose (Mark) Hoerner of Dubuque; Joan (Gene) Kies of LaMotte; Beth (Steve) Timmerman of Dubuque; Patrick (Jennifer) Donovan of Peosta; and Brian (Shelly) Donovan of Dubuque; and numerous nieces & nephews..

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Curt Curoe.

Allan L. Ertl

Allan L. Ertl, 86, of Dyersville passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.

Visitation will be held from 8:30 – 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 17 , 2023, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville with burial in the church cemetery.  Rev. Chris Podhajsky will officiate.

Allan was born on March 6, 1937, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Fred Sr. and Gertrude (Sauser) Ertl.  He married Ruth Wedewer.  He later married Susan Steffen-Ertl on October 9, 1993, in Dyersville.

He grew up in Dubuque and graduated from Loras Academy. He moved to Dyersville in 1959 when his family began the Ertl Company in Dyersville. He retired from Ertl Company and started Ertl Lanes, which became Royal Lanes, in Dyersville. Later in life, he loved raising and racing Greyhounds. He enjoyed playing Four Old Lady Solo with his friends each afternoon for over 50 years.

Survivors include his wife, Susan, children: Timothy (Tammy) Ertl , Jeanne (Ken) Lesperance, Susan (Chuck) Collins, all of Dubuque, step-children: Carol (Bill) Meyers of Waverly, Mary (Bruce) Lammers of Dubuque, Teresa (Scott) Burgmeier of East Dubuque, and Jay (Molly) Steffen of Ankeny; grandchildren: Brad, Jason, Emily, Chris, Tricia, Tiffany, Matt, Josh, Emily, Abby, Ben, Jacob, Lucas, Michael, Sam, Teresa, Jake; many great grandchildren; siblings: Joseph (Helen) Ertl of Dyersville, John (Pat) Ertl of Guttenberg, Carol (Mike) Lundergan of Dyersville, sisters-in-laws: Darlene Ertl of Dyersville, Judy Craven and Mary Craven, both of Mason City; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, Donald and Sis Craven, siblings: Robert Ertl, Fred Jr. (Nancy) Ertl, in-laws: Loras Benn, Jay “Pete” Craven.

Gerald M. Roth

Gerald M. “Jerry” Roth, 84, of East Dubuque, IL, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, October 10, 2023.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 16, 2023 at St. Mary’s Church in East Dubuque, with Fr. Dennis Vargas officiating. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by members of the Dubuque Marine Corps League.

Family and friends may call from 2 – 6 p.m. on Sunday at the Miller Funeral Home in East Dubuque, where the Parish Prayer Service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

Jerry was born on December 14, 1938 in Dubuque, IA, the son of Elmer and Laureen (Bishop) Roth. He was united in marriage to Geraldine Koeller at St. Mary’s Church in East Dubuque on January 27, 1962

Jerry served as an altar boy and sang in the church choir. He graduated from East Dubuque High School, with the Class of 1956. Jerry played basketball, football, and baseball with the Dubuque Packers. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, where he attained the rank of Sergeant, serving from November of 1961 – November of 1963.

He moved back to East Dubuque in 1963 and worked at John Deere Dubuque Works until his retirement. He was a member of UAW Local # 94.

Jerry coached little league baseball for 25 years, enjoyed woodworking, gambling, breakfast on Thursday with the guys and was a season ticket holder to the Dubuque Fighting Saints for ovre 40 years.

Surviving is his wife, Geraldine; three children, Pam (Art) Griffin of Erie, CO, Ron Roth of Dubuque, IA, and Marna (Tommy) Horstman of Guttenberg, IA; eight grandchildren, A. J., Vance, and Gabby Griffin, Avery Rogers, Brandon Montijo, Bryson Frommelt, Shian Saunders, and Lauren Guntle; and his beloved dog, Peaches.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Laureen, brothers, Chuck and Goph, nephews, John and Dave Roth, niece, Kathy McQuillan, in-laws, Raymond & Dorothy Koeller and brother-in-law, Melvin Koeller.

Jerry’s family wishes to thank Hospice of Dubuque for guiding and helping the family through his final days.

Archie L. Molzof

Archie L. Molzof, age 90, of Dubuque, passed away at home, on Monday October 9, 2023, at 11:37a.m. surrounded by his loving family.  To honor Archie’s life, a private family gathering will take place at a later date. Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, is assisting Archie’s family.

Archie was born on June 15, 1933, west of Livingston in Clifton Township, WI, son of Martin and Orphia (Watchorn) Molzof.

He attended school in Wisconsin and moved to Dubuque when he began working for the Dubuque Packing Company. He met his future wife, Helen Engling, in Dubuque and they were married on October 20, 1956 in Galena, IL.
Archie worked for the Pack and FDL until it closed and then helped Helen making and selling her crafts to support their 9 growing children.
He was a very faith-filled man and attended Saturday mass at Sacred Heart every week and regularly prayed the rosary.
Archie enjoyed spending time working on his yard and in the garden.  He had a great sense of humor and usually had an answer for everything, whether he was right or not. Archie was a great husband and a loving father to his children and grandchildren.  He was very generous with his time and would help anyone in need.

Archie was an avid Minnesota Vikings and New York Mets fan his entire life.

Doris M. Wessels

Doris M. Wessels, 87, of Epworth, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at the Hawkeye Care Center in Asbury, Iowa.

Friends and relatives of Doris may call from 2 to 7 p.m., on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at the Reiff Funeral Home in Epworth, Iowa, where a prayer service will be held at 1:30 p.m.  Visitation will also be held after 9 a.m. Monday, October 16, 2023 at the funeral home.

Services for Doris will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 16, 2023 at St. Patrick’s in Epworth, Iowa, with Rev. Michael Schueller presiding.  Concelebrating will be Msgr. Lyle Wilgenbusch.  Burial will be held in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Epworth, Iowa.

She was born September 27, 1936 in Bankston, Iowa, daughter of Clarence “Shorty” and Matilda “Tillie” (Hannan) Wilgenbusch.  She was a 1954 graduate of Epworth High School.  On November 3, 1956 she was united in marriage to Philip M. Wessels at St. Patrick’s Church in Epworth, Iowa.  He preceded her in death on June 8, 2003.

The couple lived in Dyersville until 1968, when they moved to Epworth where they owned and operated Phil’s Tap for 10 years, they then owned and operated OK Hardware in Epworth, she worked at Mike’s bar in Worthington and finished her career working in the kitchen at Mount Carmel BVM Center.

She took great pride in planting beautiful flower gardens and tending them.  She like to socialize over a game of euchre or a meal with family and friends.  She was a great cook and spent a great deal of her time cooking and feeding others.   Her pride and joy were her grandchildren and great grandchildren and she always liked to have cookies in the cookie jar for them.

She is survived by five children, Mike (Julie) Wessels of Epworth,  Mark (Cora) Wessels of Dubuque, Judy (Ron) McCarthy of Epworth,  Amy (Tom) Vandervaart of Cedar Rapids,  and Joe (Deb) Wessels of Cascade; twelve grandsons and 1 granddaughter; 4 great grandchildren; four siblings, Cheryl (Bob) Hird of Dubuque, Tom (LaVonne) Wilgenbusch and  Dan (Connie) Wilgenbusch both of Epworth and Steve and Janet Wilgenbusch of Nashville, TN; sisters-in-law, Kay Wilgenbusch of Epworth, Doris (Laverne) Wiskus of Colesburg and Nancy Goerdt of Earlville,

She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mary Alice (Ron) Connolly and Margie (Dennis) Zimmer; one brother, Willis Wilgenbusch and brothers and sister-in-law, Dave Goerdt and Dave (Carol) Wessels.

Dorothy M. Fritz

Dorothy Mae Fritz, 96, of Dubuque, died Thursday, October 12, 2023, at the Unity Point Health-Finley Hospital in Dubuque.

There will be a private family funeral service Friday at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home and Crematory.  Burial in Dubuque Memorial Gardens.

Dorothy was born May 28, 1927, in Lancaster, WI, the daughter of Charles and Bertha Losch Plautz. On September 10, 1949, she married Harold Alvin Fritz in Lancaster, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death in 2005.

Dorothy worked in the housekeeping department at Loras College.  Dorothy especially loved baking, watching Nascar, as well as the news and playing slot machines. Dorothy’s family gave her much joy.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids.  She adored her cat Maybelle.

Survivors include one daughter, Sandra “Sandy” Jean Schult of Asbury; one son, Ronald Fritz of Dubuque; grandchildren, Stephen (Katie) Schult, Krystal (Nate) Byers, Riley (Ally) Fritz; great grandchildren, Brody, Kaden, Elise, Riggs; several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and three sisters.

The family would like to thank the Finley ER and 5th floor staff, Meals On Wheels volunteers, Diane Asmussen, Robin Leik, Chaplain Ethan and Pastor Jason Davis.

Patricia J. Seng

Patricia J. “Pat” Seng, 75, of Benton, Wisconsin, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023, at St. Dominic Villa, Sinsinawa, Wisconsin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 16, 2023, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Benton, Wisconsin, with Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Family and friends may call from 9-10:45 a.m. Monday at the church prior to the service. Casey-McNett Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City is assisting the family.

Pat was born on June 23, 1948, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Oswald and Winifred (Ware) Seng.

She graduated from Lancaster High School and then attended MATC in Madison for culinary school.  Prior to owning Ye Olde Rock Café in Benton for 22 years, she worked at Micro Switch in Warren, Illinois, and then in the restaurant business at Wheel Inn and Hideaway Acres.  Her “restaurant people” were very special to her.  Pat loved going to church and bible study with the nuns.  She enjoyed baking cookies with her grandchildren and giving them away.

Pat is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Jasen) Jacobsen, Shullsburg, WI; her son, Luke (Angie Kitelinger) Curran, Platteville, WI; her grandchildren, Brooke (Griffin) Heinberg, Zachary Wedige, Nathan (Kayla Dougherty) Wedige and  Trista Curran; her great-grandchildren, Hailey Rupp, Hudson and Watson Heinberg, and Graham Wedige; two sisters, Cheryl (Michael) Brase, Donahue, IA, and Phyllis (Marty) Barber, St. Louis, MO; and four brothers, Barry Seng, Springfield, IL, Curtis (Jeannie) Seng, Fennimore, WI, Peter (Lori) Seng, Rockton, IL, and Paul (Merry) Seng, Poynette, WI.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca “Becky” in 1992; two sisters, Rose Mary (Robert) Pies and Judy (Butch) Berger; her brothers, Norbert (Janice) Seng and Mark (Linda) Seng.

Mary Ann Ginter

Mary Ann Ginter, 90, of Dubuque, IA. passed away Tuesday October 10, 2023 at Luther Manor in Dubuque.

Visitation will be held 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday October 14, 2023, at St. Joseph the Worker in Dubuque. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Brian Dellaert officiating. A private burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.

Mary was born October 19, 1932, in Dubuque to Harold and Leona (Kortemeyer) Specht. She graduated from The Visitation in Dubuque.

She married the love of her life Vincent A. on May 5, 1951. He preceded her in death in 2010.

Mary was a homemaker, a member of the Mississippi Hiking Club, Catholic Mother’s Club. She was one of the original board members of Galena Territory Association. She and Vince enjoyed their winters in Meza AZ. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Gail (Joe) Mond, Jan Ginter, Kay (Jeffery) Slade, Theresa (Klint Banfield) Rohrs, Rachel (Jeff) Allen; her grandchildren, Eric (Jennifer) Mond, Eben (Darcee) Mond, Leah (Keith) Hoffmann, Dylan Rohrs, Michael (Lexi) Allen, Mitchell (Abbie) Allen, Molly (Mason Henning) Allen; great-grandchildren, Madison Mond, Huxley, Wilder, and Raven Mond, Rylee Hoffmann, Hendrix, Nixon, and Daxon Rohrs; brother-in-law, Thomas Pfiffner.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, and in-laws Philipp and Stella Ginter; great grandson Beau Hoffmann; sister Margaret (Elroy) Petsche; siblings in-law Joe (Donna) Ginter, Priscilla (Ed) Bahl, Maleta Dietz, and Irma Pfiffner.

George D. Donovan

George D. Donovan, 84, of Dubuque Iowa, passed away on Monday October 10, 2023 at Stonehill. Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery, in Fillmore, IA. at a later date. Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.

George was born May 31, 1939 to Hubert and Evelyn Donovan.

He graduated from Loras Academy and attended Loras College, before starting George D. Donovan Construction.

George was an avid golfer, pool player, and wine drinker. He was a member of the Asbury Eagle Club, spent his winters in Myrtle Beach S.C and loved his Sunday morning breakfast at the West Dubuque Tap.
