Maryjo A. (Sargent) Haas

Maryjo A. (Sargent) Haas, age 68, of Dubuque, passed away at 5:47 p.m., on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at Dubuque Specialty Care. To celebrate Maryjo’s life, family and friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street. Due to COVID-19 concerns, all who attend will be required to wear a face covering, and are asked to please maintain social distancing practices. To honor Maryjo’s life, funeral services will be held immediately following the visitation at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday at Behr Funeral Home, with Deacon Mike Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Maryjo was born on March 17, 1953, in Clinton, Iowa, daughter of Charles and Evelyn (Crowley) Sargent.

Maryjo grew up and attended school in Clinton before moving to Dubuque to make her permanent home. She was united in marriage to Henry R. “Hank” Haas Jr. on August 6, 1977. They would be blessed with 38 wonderful years together, and 2 sons, before Hank sadly passed away on November 8, 2015. Maryjo was a hard worker who was employed with Swiss Colony, H&R Block and Armstrongs, until her retirement in 2006. Her favorite job by far was teaching preschool with Holy Ghost School and Head Start which she did for 8 years. Maryjo would happily share with others that it felt good to not have to go to work anymore, and just be able to relax and enjoy life. In her free time, Maryjo and Hank liked to travel, whether it was going to an amusement park, or heading to Wrigley Field to watch a Cubs games. She also raised Dachshunds in her free time and amassed quite the collection of “weiner dog” novelties which made her smile remembering all the little puppies she had cared for throughout the years. She also collected Budweiser Steins, and loved to check out garage sales looking for a lost treasure. Spending time with her family, no doubt, brought Maryjo the greatest joy, especially when the grandkids where involved. Maryjo was a wonderful woman and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace pain free.

Grace A. Daughetee

Grace A. (Gartner) Daughetee, age 78, of Dubuque, passed away at 12:30 a.m., on Sunday, April 18, 2021, at Sunset Park Place. To celebrate Grace’s life, family and friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street. Grace was born on July 19, 1942, in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Louis and Clara (Schueller) Gartner.  Grace married Lyle D. Daughetee on February 4, 1961, at Holy Ghost Church.  Together they enjoyed 44 years of married life, raising 5 children and enjoying their 7 grandchildren.

She worked for the Dubuque Community School District in food service, beginning in 1973 at Kennedy Elementary and then transferring to the Central Kitchen in 1989.  She retired in 1999 after thoroughly enjoying her 26 years of service.

Grace loved to bake and cook, frequently entertaining her large family for Sunday dinners.  She was a laundry wizard, there was no stain she could not conquer.  There was nothing she enjoyed more than spending time with her grandkids.  She was known for her “Grammy Subs” and baked goods, each individually wrapped.  Her other hobbies included gardening while admiring the hummingbirds, conversations on the patio, and frequenting the local casinos.

LouAnn K. Adams

LouAnn K. Adams, 49, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 12, 2021 at her home.

A celebration of her life will be held at 1 P.M., Friday, April 23, 2021 at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa.  Visitation will be held from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.  Cremation has taken place and burial will be at a later date.

It will be required to utilize face masks and to observe social distancing guidelines during the visitation and services.

LouAnn Kay Schnoor was born on August 11, 1971 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Garry Carl and Rita Carol (Crist) Schnoor.  She was a 1989 graduate of Maquoketa Community High School.  She married Norman Keith Adams on June 8, 2008 in Sterling, Illinois.  They later divorced.

LouAnn had worked as a respiratory therapist for 10 years while living in Phoenix, Arizona and for three years while living in Illinois.  She had also lived in the Amarillo, Texas area for a short time.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Xavier Adams of Davenport, IA, and Hailey Adams of Medford, OR; her parents, Garry and Rita Schnoor of Baldwin, IA; a brother, Dave (Andrea) Schnoor of Maquoketa, IA; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents.

Peter A. Esser

Peter (Pete) A. Esser, age 90, of Platteville, Wisconsin, completed his earthly journey on April 13, 2021, at Edenbrook of Platteville, surrounded by his loving family.  To honor Peter’s life, a private family service is being held.  The Tri-State Cremation Center is serving Peter’s family.

Pete was born on February 1, 1931, in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, to Peter and Lucille (Wiederhold) Esser.  He grew up in Potosi and even as a child was often found exploring the Mississippi River. He developed a love of nature and wildlife, and at the same time excelled at school and sports. In 1951, Pete married his soul-mate, Mary Leeser, and he also began his tour in the Korean War with the U.S. Army, where he quickly earned the rank of sergeant.  He honorably served his country before returning home to begin his life journey with Mary faithfully at his side.  He pursued a career in Education and eventually received his Master’s degree from U.W. Madison. He served in several school districts, including one in North Bend, Oregon. He pivoted to working in industry and began his career primarily in the quality control sector for the remainder of his work life. Along the way and into retirement, he pursued his many interests and is the founder of the Wisconsin River Race in Muscoda Wisconsin which has continued for 54 years. He had an adventurous spirit and loved, to fish, hunt, travel, hike, paddle and kayak, and especially loved the West. He was on the last leg of his journey to become a pilot when a heart attack derailed this ambition. He was a master storyteller and regaled his friends and family with yarns about his misadventures and the colorful characters he knew from Potosi and met along the path of his life. He retired in Platteville, where he and Mary became part of a wonderful, caring neighborhood where everyone looks out for and helps one another. There, he joined Trout Unlimited and directed his energy toward volunteering, making significant contributions to stream restoration, and developing strong friendships along the way. During this time, he experienced the greatest joy of his life by welcoming his grandchildren into his life.

Pete was truly a Renaissance man and was a lifelong learner, and loved to read and analyze contemporary and historical books until the end of his life. He inspired his children and grandchildren – he excelled at woodworking and inspired his son to pursue this hobby and create master works, especially in the Mission style; he inspired the love of dogs, starting with his hunting beagles, that have led all his children and grandchildren to rescue and love a motley crew of castaway dogs; and he inspired in them a love of nature and the outdoors, and a commitment to environmental causes. In everything from bicycling to canoe racing, to motorcycles to intellectual pursuits, he sparked these interests in others.

He contributed meaningfully to his community in many ways – he compiled a booklet about the history of Point in Potosi and spent a summer volunteering on one of the Apostle Islands. His spirit of adventure has left a legacy of funny stories and beautiful memories for us to embrace in the difficult days ahead.  Our hearts bear a heavy weight today at the mere thought of losing Pete from our daily lives, but we trust and pray that the Lord will keep him in perfect peace until we meet again.  Thank you, Pete, husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, colleague – for teaching us to enjoy every day – and may we carry your legacy of service forward with grateful hearts.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents.

Howard M. Barton

Howard M. Barton, 87, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away Wednesday evening, April 14th, 2021. Howard wishes for no services to be held at this time. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family. Online condolences may be left at www.leonardfuneralhome.com

Howard was born December 5th, 1933 in Lepanto, Arkansas, to James and Minnie Barton. Upon graduating with his Master’s degree, Howard went on to pursue a passion for mental health. He later became the Executive Director of the Gannon Center in Dubuque where he retired.

On November 30th, 1962, Howard married the love of his life Marianne Barton (Trautman) in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They both shared a love for traveling and spending time with family. Howard was an ardent fisherman and loved to spend most of his days on the Mississippi River. He especially loved all of his pets and spoiling his grandkids.

He is survived by his wife, Marianne Barton of Dubuque, Iowa, daughter Christine Barton Jensen of Dubuque and son Vance Barton; 7 grandchildren, James (Melissa) Lehnen of Arkansas, Aaron (Abby) Lehnen of East Dubuque, IL, Alyssa Lehnen of Iowa City, IA, Anders Jensen of Dubuque, Portia Barton of Cedar Rapids, IA, Veda Barton, and Ezra Barton; 4 great grandchildren, Blake, Benson, Maxwell, and Baxter.

Robert Necker

Robert “Bob” Necker died peacefully April 14, 2021 with his wife, Viola at his side in spirit. In Kieler, WI visitation will be held from 11 a.m. – 1:45 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Kieler, WI., prior to a Funeral Mass held at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Bernie Rott officiating. In Dyersville, IA Visitation will be held at St. Francis Cemetery Chapel from 10 – 11 a.m. Monday, April 19, 2021 prior to a Graveside Committal at 11:00 a.m. where Military Honors will be accorded by American Legion Post # 137.

Robert George Necker was born Dec 21, 1931 in Dyersville, Iowa to George and Mildred (Heming) Necker, graduating from Xavier High School in Dyersville in 1949. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy 1951, in the Korean War, serving until January 1955, discharged honorably and enjoyed the Dyersville American Legion Post #137 gatherings for 60 years.

After Bob married Viola Muller Richard on June 2012, they delighted in attending weddings and baptisms where Bob was proclaimed ‘honorary grandfather and great grandfather’ on many occasions.

Other survivors include: brothers: John Necker, Austin TX, David (Doris) Necker, Georgetown TX,  sister in law Karen Necker of New Vienna IA., and many nieces and nephews across the country.

Preceding Bob in death were siblings:  Don and Dorothy Necker, Bette & Ray Thomas, Neil Necker, sister in law Patty Necker of Austin TX.

Bob married Darlene Meisenburg in 1958, she died in 2007. His life-long friend, David Dunkel was Bob’s caregiver in Bob’s later life; and the family wishes to extend their thanks to Mr. Dunkel, and to St. Croix Hospice.

Bob served as a postal carrier many years, and also as owner/proprietor of OfficeTap in Dyersville, where he enjoyed the customers and cooked his famous ribs.  He also enjoyed garden flowers and caring for small animals, as he was known as “Nature Boy” in his youth.  In his later years, Bob enjoyed puzzles, painting nature scenes and feeding birds in the yard.   Bob was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish in Kieler Wisconsin. He was active in CEW and That Man is You Bible study.

Ruth M. Chevalier

Ruth Mary “Ruthie” Chevalier, age 79, of Dubuque, completed her earthly journey peacefully in her sleep on April 10, 2021, at Sunset Park Place, surrounded by her loving family. To honor Ruthie’s life, a private family burial will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Dubuque. The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Ruthie’s family.

Ruthie was born on August 15, 1941, in St. Catherine, Iowa, a daughter to Milton and Clara (Berendes) Welbes. She grew up learning and embracing the values of love and devotion from an early age and would faithfully carry these most important traits throughout her entire life. Ruthie eventually met her soul-mate, Dennis “Luke” Chevalier, and the two were united in marriage on November 8, 1969 at St. Mary’s Church in Dubuque. Sadly, Luke was called home ahead of her in 1989. Ruthie would find the strength and courage to move forward as she and Aimee would face each passing day together, unified in love and devotion towards one another as always. Ruthie did work as a purchasing agent at Ulner Tool and Die for many years, but her true calling was always to be at home caring for Aimee. Together they experienced countless adventures and made many wonderful friends along the way. The broken hearts that Ruthie leaves behind are too numerous to mention, and thankfully the beautiful memories are just as abundant to help heal the pain. Thank you, Ruthie, for teaching us that life is what we decide to make of it, and may the Lord keep you safe in His loving arms until we meet again.

Tom Podnar

Tom Podnar, 85, of Dubuque, died Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at the Ennoble Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Dubuque.

The private family funeral service for Tom will be 11:30 am Monday, April 19, 2021, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Cremation Service with Deacon John Stierman officiating. Tom was born December 19, 1935, in Lika, Croatia the son of Stepha and Maria Podnar. On May 6, 1959, he married Maria Marinic in Croatia.

He was a Croatian Army Sergeant Veteran, serving from 1957 until 1959.

He worked as a warehouse supervisor for Coca-Cola for 30 years.

He enjoyed gardening, cooking, walking, bird watching, and camping.

Survivors include his wife, Maria Podnar of Dubuque; three daughters, Susie Graham, Anna Ellison, Manda (Joe) Vondran all of Dubuque; seven grandchildren, Nathan, Danielle, Shelby, Krystal, David, Samantha, and Spencer; one great-grandchild; and brother, Milan Podnar.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Nikola and Adam Podnar, and two sisters, Kathy and Lucia Podnar.

A special thank you to Hospice of Dubuque, Stonehill and Ennoble for their care of Tom.

Rhonda Barton

Rhonda Barton, 56, of Sherrill, died Wednesday, April 14, 2021, after her courageous fight with cancer at her home surrounded by her family.

Rhonda was born April 27, 1964, in Dubuque, the daughter of Robert “Bob” and Elizabeth “Betty” Ehlers Schroeder. On September 18, 1992, she married Dale Barton, her high school sweetheart, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Balltown.

Rhonda was a hard worker and spent over ten years working at Aramark Services at John Deere. She also spent time catering for The Barn in Sherrill and many years providing daycare services. Rhonda was a strong person who always put others before herself. Her family was the most important part of her life and when talking about them, she would have a big smile on her face. She was so excited and proud, and enjoyed talking about her daughter Samantha’s upcoming wedding. And she loved hearing about all the fun that her son Alex had with his friends.

Survivors include her husband, Dale; her two children, Samantha (fiancé Hunter Estess) Barton, of Lindale, Texas, and Alex Barton of Sherrill; her mother, Betty Schroeder of Dubuque; one sister, Roxanne (Greg) Wille of Sherrill; one brother, Rodney (Sherry) Schroeder of Dubuque; her mother-in-law, Phyllis Barton of Dubuque; two sisters-in-law, Michelle (Mike) Gentili of Texas and Joellen Hovind; three brothers-in-law, Doug (Erin) Barton, Dan (Stacey) Barton, and David (Annette) Barton all of Dubuque; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Schroeder, her father-in-law, Louis Barton, one brother-in-law, Steve Barton, and one niece, Emily Schroeder.

Dennis Bagby

Dennis Bagby of Dallas, Texas died unexpectedly March 29, 2021. Private family services will be held at a later date.

Dennis was born December 10, 1952 in Independence, Iowa, son of Edward and Marguerite Bagby. He graduated from St. John High School in 1971.

Throughout Dennis’s career he worked in the airline industry starting with Eastern Airlines and retiring from American Airlines. He loved airline travel and would often fly to cities on his days off “just for the fun of it.”

Dennis was very active with Angel Flights in which he would escort disabled children from impoverished countries to the US for medical treatment. He especially loved playing Santa for children at the orphanages in South America.

He is survived by his partner Gyorgy Gabor of Budapest, Hungary, brothers Don (Diana) Bagby of Dubuque, Ron (Kathy) Bagby of Omaha, Neb., Dr. Martin Bagby of Dubuque, Ken Bagby of Independence, and Kevin (Mary) Bagby of Manchester.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Marguerite Bagby, brothers Eddie and Larry Bagby, and sister Marilyn Wetzel.

LaVonne P. Morehead

LaVonne P. Morehead, 86, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Monday evening, April 12, 2021, just hours before her husband of 67 years, Stuart Morehead passed away.  They both passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at Clover Ridge Place in Maquoketa.

A joint memorial service celebrating their lives will be held at 6 P.M., Friday, April 16, 2021, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa.  Visitation will be held 3 to 6 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.  Cremation has taken place.  A private burial will be held at a later date at East Iron Hill Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa.

It will be required to utilize face masks and to observe social distancing guidelines during the visitation and services.

LaVonne Pearl Clark was born on August 1, 1934 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Clayton and Evelyn Marie (Peoples) Clark.  She was a 1952 graduate of Maquoketa High School.  Upon graduation, she worked at the Jackson County ASC Office until her marriage to Stuart Earl Morehead on November 7, 1954 in Maquoketa, Iowa.

LaVonne farmed with her husband northwest of Maquoketa, retiring in 2018.  She was a true farmer’s wife, working alongside her husband while running a household and keeping a garden.  Home cooked meals with home raised produce and delicious baked desserts were her specialty.

She enjoyed farming, gardening, cooking from scratch, playing cards and crocheting.  She shared her love of horses with her daughters and grandchildren.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Stuart “Lynn” (Karen) Morehead of Maquoketa, IA, LuAnn (Marty Thole) Cahill of Maquoketa, IA, and Angie (Mike) McClintock of Harrison, AR; 7 grandchildren, April (CJ Wilhelm) Till, Erin (Matt) Weis, Austin (Vanessa) Cahill, Tim (Maisie) Morehead, Levi (Brittni) Larkey, Nate (Kimberly) Cahill, and Brandi (Fowler) Tomasich; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings, Larry “Butch” (Carol) Clark of Zwingle, IA, Roger Clark of Zwingle, IA, Darlene Clark Butz of Des Moines, IA, and Betty (Tom) Streets of Scotch Grove, IA; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Clark (Neil) Morehead of Maquoketa, IA.  Her husband Stuart Morehead survived her until he passed away on April 13, 2021.  She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters Janet Lee and Jan Ellen, a great-granddaughter Lauren Lynn Weis, a brother Robert, sisters Ruth Siegel and Lois Elkins.

Stuart E. Morehead

Stuart E. Morehead, 87, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday morning, April 13, 2021, just hours after his wife of 67 years, LaVonne Morehead passed away.  They both passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at Clover Ridge Place in Maquoketa.

Stuart Earl Morehead was born on March 8, 1934 in Jackson County, Iowa, to Ray and Beulah (Bollinger) Morehead.  He was a 1951 graduate of Maquoketa High School.  He married LaVonne Pearl Clark on November 7, 1954 in Maquoketa, Iowa.  Stuart served his country in the U.S. Army, earning an honorable discharge.  Upon returing home, Stuart worked for Don Schwenker.  He then farmed his parent’s farm until he and LaVonne purchased it in 1990.

He was a farmer through and through.  He took great pride in his work, always taking care of his land, livestock, and machinery.  He could fabricate tools and machinery out of the materials he got ahold of.  Stuart would use a teaching moment whenever possible, and we are so thankful for that.  His motto was “work smarter, not harder.”

Stuart enjoyed playing cards and was always up for a game of Euchre, pool or ping pong.  He always had a big smile on his face and was very proud of his children and grandchildren.

Jeanette L. Hohmann

Jeanette Louise Hohmann, 85, of Dubuque, died Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at the Stonehill Care Center in Dubuque.

Jeanette was born April 15, 1935, in Dubuque, the daughter of John J. and Servina (Pfohl) Stecher. She married William J. Hohmann on June 21, 1954 in Rickardsville, IA.

She enjoyed traveling, fishing, camping, walking, playing Euchre, watching WWE wrestling, The Price Is Right & The Lawrence Welk Show and especially her jewelry.  Jeanette enjoyed spending time with her daughter, Renee and her family who she adored.

Survivors include one daughter, Renee (Gary) Blosch of Peosta; grandchildren, Michael (Melinda) Blosch of Peosta, Nicole (Jeff) Barta of Peosta, Ashley (Jeremiah) Blosch Harris of Minneapolis, MN, Alexis Blosch of Scottsdale, AZ and Joshua Milligan of Dubuque; two great-grandchildren, Kaitlin Blosch and Jacob Barta; one brother, Fr. John Stecher of Davenport; sister, Carol Wagner of Missouri; sister-in-law, Marilyn Stecher of Dubuque and ex-husband, William J. Hohmann of Tennyson, WI; and very special friend Jill Rokusek of Stonehill in Dubuque.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one son, Ronald William Hohmann and one brother, Don Stecher.

Rosemary C. Ploessl

Rosemary C. “Rosie” Ploessl, 87 of Holy Cross, passed away peacefully on April 11th, 2021, reuniting with her Donnie one day after their 65th wedding anniversary.

To celebrate Rosie’s life, family and friends may visit from 2 – 7 p.m. Friday, April 16th, at Kramer Funeral Home in Holy Cross, Iowa.  Visitation will continue Saturday, April 17th at Kramer Funeral Home prior to funeral services beginning at 9:00 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 17th at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Holy Cross, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Noah Diehm will officiate. The Mass will be live-streamed on Kramer Funeral Home’s Facebook page.

Rosie was born December 30, 1933 at home on the family farm near Five Points in Center Township of Dubuque County, Iowa, the daughter of Peter W. and Alvina (Wilwert) Stoffel. She married Donald A. “Donnie” Ploessl on April 10, 1956 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rickardsville, Iowa. Farming was their life and together they began farming at North Buena Vista before her father eventually asked them to move to the Stoffel family farm in Rickardsville. In 1984 they retired to Holy Cross, eventually moving to the apartment next to the funeral home in 1998 where Rosie proudly and meticulously cared for its surroundings. She was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church and Rosary Society.

Rosie was a strong, beautiful soul with an unwavering faith in her Lord that carried her through many struggles, always caring for others before herself. Rosie always spoke of how thankful she was to be blessed with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren that she had never expected to see after spending nearly two years quarantined with tuberculosis in the early 1960s when she was in her late twenties. “What will be, will be.” “Do not be sad for what you have lost but be happy for what you have.”

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Ronald “Ron” and his wife Beverly “Bev” Ploessl of North Buena Vista and Deanna Ploessl of Holy Cross, five grandsons: Daniel “Dan” (Livy), Jeffrey “Jeff”, Mitchell “Mitch” (Emily Degenford), Dusty (Rachael), and David “Davey” (Lauren Connolly);  9 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way: Becca (Chase Breitbach), Bryce, Danielle, Paisley, Keaton, Jax, Letty Rose, Archie and Cassutt, siblings Theresa (Campbell) Hanson and Joann “Joanie” Klein, in-laws Andrew “Junior” Ploessl Jr., Lorene Ploessl,  Marvin “Mick” Brimeyer, and Jim Paisley.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donnie in 2005; her parents; siblings and in-laws: Leonard (Agnes) Stoffel, Merlin (Germaine) Stoffel, Francis “Rex” (Gertrude) Stoffel, Arnold Stoffel in infancy, Bernard “Biff” “Bibbs” Stoffel, Jim Campbell, Jim Hanson, Raymond “Ferdie” Klein, Edwin “Eddie” (Margaret) Ploessl, Laverne “Vernie” (Rita) Ploessl, Alvin Ploessl, Mary “Tootie” Brimeyer, Linda Brimeyer, Mary (Andrew Jr.) Ploessl, James “Jim” Ploessl, Pearl (Jim) Klein, John “Sonny” Ploessl, Francis “Frank” (Eldora) Ploessl, and Louis Ploessl and Joseph Ploessl in infancy.

In lieu of flowers, Rosemary requested any memorials be given as donations in her memory to Hospice of Dubuque, Holy Cross Church, MercyOne Senior Care Foundation, or the Holy Cross/N. Daniel R. Patters

Daniel Robert Patters, 48, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, April 5, 2021, in Cedar Rapids.

Danny was born July 30, 1972, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Robert and Mary Kay (Riekena) Patters.

He graduated from Wahlert High School in 1990 and received his Bachelors Degree from University of Northern Iowa in 1994.

Dan’s professional life was spent in sales and service for various yearbook companies. He was an avid Hawkeye fan. Dan enjoyed spending time with his children, hunting, fishing and golfing.

Survivors include his children, Abby and Alex Patters; his father, Robert Patters, Jr. of Dubuque; his mother, Mary Kay Patters of Dubuque; his sister, Jean Yohnke; three uncles, Gary, Rick, and Jay Patters; his aunt, Carol Riekena; his best friend, Todd Dannaman and numerous other friends and family.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents and Uncle Ron Riekena.
