Constance K. Perry

Constance K. “Connie” Perry, age 58, of Dubuque, was called home peacefully at 7:09 p.m., on Thursday, August 30, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque, surrounded by her loving family. To honor Connie’s life, funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, with Deacon John Stierman officiating. To celebrate Connie’s life, family and friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at Behr Funeral Home. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.

Connie was born on January 7, 1960, in Dubuque, daughter of John and Kathleen (Plumley) Walsh.

Connie was proud to have spent her entire life as a Dubuquer; surrounded by family and friends through each and every day. Growing up in a family of 8 children, she quickly learned the values of family fun and commitment. She would eventually meet her soul-mate, Dennis Perry, and the couple was united in marriage on September 24, 1982, in Tulsa, OK. They would be blessed with 35 wonderful years together, and 4 truly adored children, before Connie was sadly called home much to early. When Connie wasn’t spending time with her family, you could easily find her working at Linwood Cemetery where she faithfully gave her all over the years. But, her greatest joy was always found back home with her family. Her love continued to grow as she watched her 12 grandchildren join the world. Spending time with them quickly evolved into regular camping trips to Massey Station, where the fish soon learned that they were not safe when the Perry clan was spending the weekend. Connie also enjoyed a little traveling outside of the Dubuque area from time to time, and her trips to the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, dipping her toes in the ocean in Florida, and a little gambling in Mississippi were among her favorites. We are beyond saddened today with the now all so real absence of Connie from our daily lives. Thankfully though, all who knew and loved her are left with an abundance of memories to cherish through the years ahead. We thank you Connie for all the love you shared along your 58 year earthly journey. We will miss you more than you know, remember you more fondly than you can imagine, and forever be grateful for the time we had with such a bright shining star walking among us. May God keep you safe in His loving arms until we meet again!

Those left to cherish Connie’s memory include
her loving husband,
Dennis Perry, Dubuque, IA;

her 4 children,
Jessica (Justin) Wiedner, Dyersville, IA,
Dawn (Dan Hoth) Perry, East Dubuque, IL,
Joshua Perry, Dubuque, IA
and Jeremy (Terri Yarolem) Perry, Nashville, IA;

her 12 grandchildren,
Dominick, Derek, Macaylah, Izabel, Madisyn, Morgan, Marissa, Dylan, Emma, Ayden and Carter;

her 7 brothers and sisters,
Bonnie (Randy Rath) Walsh, Dubuque, IA,
John (Julie) Walsh, Epworth, IA,
Judith (Dan) Paquin, Sioux City, IA,
Jean (Jay) Burgus, Dubuque, IA,
Robert (Jane) Walsh, Dubuque, IA,
Jacklyn (Jeff Heitz) Walsh-Young, Dubuque, IA
and Tammy (Rich) Kedley, Dubuque, IA;

and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Brodie; and a niece, Bianca “Laura”.

A Constance K. Perry memorial fund has been established, which will be distributed among her favorite charities.

Connie’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Hospice of Dubuque, and all of her friends and family who’ve provided such wonderful care and support to Connie as she fought with cancer so courageously; she couldn’t have done it without you all helping along the way!

Cletus J. “Clete” Tigges, age 84, of Dubuque, was called home peacefully at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at Stonehill Care Center, surrounded by his loving family. To honor Clete’s life, funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, September 3, 2018, at Holy Spirit Parish, Holy Trinity Church, 1701 Rhomberg Avenue, with Rev. Andrew Awotwe-Mensah officiating. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, is in charge of arrangements.

Clete was born on May 30, 1934, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Edmund and Ella (Linden) Tigges.

Clete was a proud lifelong Dubuquer who worked at the General Dry Battery Company for 6 years before venturing over to John Deere Dubuque Works, where he spent the next 30 years diligently working on the assembly line until his well earned retirement in 1987. He found the love of his life, Coletta Speltz, and they were united in marriage on February 27, 1954, at St. Columbkille’s Church. The loving couple was blessed with 55 wonderful years together, and 6 adored children, before Coletta was sadly called home ahead of Clete on June 26, 2009. Clete was an active member of the community and was a proud member of the U.A.W. Local #94. His faith life was a very important part of Clete’s life, and he was not only a long-time member of Holy Ghost Church, but he also faithfully lived out his life in such a manner that his Christian values and principles were visibly on display for all to witness. Clete was an honest man, a hard worker, a true friend, but above all he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather each and every day. Fortunately, all 6 of his children remained in Dubuque, which made for large family gatherings every Sunday. Clete consistently role-modeled and instilled great family values for the generations behind him to follow. This behavior was so obviously rewarded by the barrage of regular daily visits to Stonehill from his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Not only were Sunday dinner’s with his family a priority in his life, but the countless gatherings centered around great food, and the Sunday games will continue to provide an outlet for his legacy to be carried forward within the treasured stories which will now be shared in his honor. His unwavering devotion to those he cared for was never in question and we will miss Clete more than words could convey, but we are forever grateful for the lessons and memories he leaves behind, as they will assist us along our own earthly journey we must travel until we, once again, see Clete face to face.
