Applications Now Open for City of Dubuque Arts & Culture Capacity Building Grant Program
The City of Dubuque and the Arts and Cultural Affairs Advisory Commission are now accepting applications for the Arts & Culture Capacity Building grant program for the fiscal year (FY) 2027 grant cycle, which runs July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027.
Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2026. All information related to the application guidelines, scoring rubric, and access to the online application portal is available at www.cityofdubuque.org/artsgrants.
Eligible organizations may apply for grants of up to $8,000 to support capacity-building initiatives. Examples of capacity-building include, but are not limited to:
- strategic planning
- creating a development plan and/or fundraising strategy
- marketing/communications
- donor experience improvements
- staff and/or board member nonprofit training
- leadership development
- project or program development
- volunteer management
Since these funding programs began in 2005, the City of Dubuque has invested over $5.2 million in local organizations and activities that expand residents’ access to a broad range of arts and cultural experiences. These investments support economic activity, encourage public engagement, and help make Dubuque a vibrant community of choice.
