The City of Dubuque and the Arts and Cultural Affairs Advisory Commission are now accepting applications for the Arts & Culture Operating Support grant program for fiscal (FY) 2027, which runs from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027.
Applications must be submitted online by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026. The application guidelines, scoring rubric, and access to the online application portal are available at?www.cityofdubuque.org/artsgrants.
The Operating Support grant is designed to assist established, Dubuque-based nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status whose primary mission is to create, produce, present, or provide arts and cultural experiences for public audiences.
Through the most recent round of Operating Support funding, the City supported 20 different nonprofit organizations with awards of $707 to $22,896, supporting budgets ranging from $20,000 to $6.8 million annually.
“This ongoing commitment to Dubuque’s nonprofit arts and culture sector supports nearly 1,500 full and part-time arts and culture workers, while investing in programming that creates an estimated $70.4 million annual economic impact through tourism, hospitality, and retail activity and significantly impacting broader quality of life and community development efforts,” said Arts & Cultural Affairs Manager Bonnie Spurling.
Since the program’s inception in 2005, the City of Dubuque has invested over $5.1 million in local organizations and activities that expand residents’ access to a broad range of arts and cultural experiences. These investments support economic activity, encourage public engagement, and help make Dubuque a vibrant community of choice.
