Sacred Heart Icon Event

Join us for a Special Mass – FRIDAY, JUNE 27 – 5:30pm – Sacred Heart 2215 Windsor Ave., Dubuque.

Through the Knights of Columbus 2025 Pilgrim Icon Program, councils are asked to organize a Sacred Heart Holy Hour, Mass, and/or a Prayer Service featuring this year’s chosen icon which depicts what is considered the most famous image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

This icon was painted in 1767 by Pompeo Batoni and now venerated in the Church of the Gesù in Rome.  The reproduction bears the blessing of Pope Francis, through the Papal Almoner, and is one of more than 300 icons traveling across the world, from council to council, for veneration and use in prayer services.

This Friday, June 27, the Catholic Church celebrates this year’s Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Dubuque is blessed to have one of these icons in the area and Council 510 serves Holy Spirit Parish which has as one of its campuses, the beautiful Sacred Heart Church, dedicated to His Most Sacred Heart.  We have arranged to display this Icon in Sacred Heart this weekend.

This Pilgrim-Icon Event kicks off in Holy Spirit Parish with the offering of an extra 5:30pm Mass at Sacred Heart Church this Friday, June 27.  All are invited and there will be treats in the hall after Friday evening’s Mass.

The Sacred Heart Icon will be on display throughout the weekend at Sacred Heart parish.  Plan to take time to pray with the Icon some time this weekend in honor of The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.  There will be Prayer Booklets for your use during this devotion, and Prayer Cards for you to take and enjoy.  These are available in both English and Spanish.
