Alan Wood

Alan Wood, 85, of Baldwin, Iowa, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

Alan Lieneman Wood was born on December 26, 1939, to Lawrence and Gladys (Lieneman) Wood on the family farm near Nashville, Iowa. He attended Tozer Country School through the eighth grade and graduated from Maquoketa High School in 1956. On May 4, 1963, he married Linda Marie Brady in Baldwin, Iowa.

Alan proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, receiving an honorable discharge in 1964.

He worked for Clinton Engines in Maquoketa for several years. He then farmed and operated Wood Oil Co., an Amoco Oil dealership in Baldwin, until his retirement in 2003.

Alan had been a member of the Baldwin American Legion Post #513. He enjoyed farm life (especially baling hay), square dancing, fishing with his grandchildren, and camping with family and friends.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Linda Wood of Baldwin; his children, Jennifer (Dean) Engel of Delmar, Joel (Melissa) Wood of Baldwin, and Jonathan (Jessica) Wood of Dubuque; six grandchildren, Megan, Beth, Maranda, Evie, Izzie, and Mayson; three great‑grandchildren, Olivia, Emma, and Gavin, and another on the way. He is also survived by his siblings, Dale Wood, Leon (Chris) Wood, Keith Wood, and Karen Spaete.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his infant son, Jason; and his siblings, Lois Fogarty and Roger Wood.

Alan will be laid to rest in a pine casket handcrafted with love by his sons.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Buckhorn Cemetery, rural Maquoketa.

Memorials may be made to Christ’s Community Church in Monmouth, Hospice of Jackson County, or a charity of your choice.
