Amy was born February 28, 1972, in Fort Collins, CO, the daughter of Gerald (Jerry) Thomas and Mary Reiter Jorgensen. On August 5, 2000, she married Thomas Patrick Brooner in St. Louis, MO.
She received her degree in Physical Therapy from St. Louis University and a Masters of Science Degree in Biomechanical Research in Physical Therapy from St. Louis University.
In 2005, Amy, a licensed Physical Therapist and Certified Athletic Trainer, relocated with her family to Dubuque to be near family. There she began her role as a Physical Therapist and Certified Athletic Trainer at Finley Hospital and several years ago became Director of Inpatient and Outpatient Rehabilitation Services at Unity Point Health – Finley. Amy was a dedicated health care professional, enjoying her work with patients and working with her co-workers. She was proud of the staff of which she served as Director. She was most grateful for all the support she received from her staff and co-workers throughout her breast cancer journey.
Amy was a member of Church of the Resurrection. Her primary focus was on her family. She enthusiastically supported her daughters as a dedicated Girl Scout leader, swim mom, soccer mom, and a Delta Gamma mom. She also held roles as an officer of Mazzuchelli and Wahlert parent groups. Amy was the rock of her family and an excellent trip planner. She was always planning the next adventure! In her leisure time, she found joy in biking along the Heritage Trail and taking walks with her two dogs.
