Anne Heinz
No truer words have been spoken than when Anne told her lifelong friend, Vicki, “I’ve had a great life.”On December 14, 2025, Anne (Gindorff) Heinz passed away at Stonehill in Dubuque.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at St. Patrick’s Church. The family will hold visitation from 9:00am -10:45 am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am with Father David Ambrosy as the Celebrant. There will be a private burial at a later date.
A cherished sister, aunt, friend and Democrat was lost. Margaret Anne Gindorff was born on November 29, 1951 to Charles and Lucille Gindorff. Anne was a proud life long Dubuquer. As a child she loved summertime, where she played with her cousins and the cats on her grandparents farm in DeWitt.
Anne began working at Northwestern Bell Telephone and then earned her degree at Clarke College. She enjoyed working in sales and meeting people at McGraw Hill Publishing and then found her favorite role as receptionist greeting everyone at Stonehill Communities. She loved her daily conversations with the guests, residents, priests and staff. Anne was married to John Heinz for 8 years, and then maintained a lifelong friendship. Her relationships with her brothers Nic and Tom were based on love, friendship and respect.
She was a proud aunt and acted more like a friend to her nieces and nephew. Anne loved hosting a 2008 presidential campaign event for Joe Biden and also the Rock n’ Roll Reunion. In each of her neighborhoods, her patio was a gathering place for laughs and discussions. She valued her friendships new and old and loved bringing her friends together. The world has lost a light, but she will now be embraced by loved ones that have passed, especially her mother Lucy, her father Chic and her nephew Josef.
Anne is survived by her two brothers, Nic (Marge) Gindorff, Tom (Susan Peterson) Gindorff; nieces Gretchen (Steve) McLelland, Anna (Chris) Brady, Nicol Gindorff; and much loved great nieces and nephews Collin, Reese, Lucy, Benjamin, Evelyn and Jack; Uncle Dorrance (Theresa) Kedley; many cousins; and Anne’s special friends, Jeong Seung (Mark) Choi and their daughter Sarah.
