Anne M. Helling
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anne Marie Helling, age 64, of Dubuque, Iowa. Surrounded by her family, Anne made her heavenly journey on December 8, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Anne will be at 11:30 am on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Church of the Resurrection with Father Phil Gibbs as the Celebrant. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Dubuque.
Anne was born on July 26, 1960 to the late James and Constance Kenneally. She was a proud graduate of Wahlert High School, class of 1978. She married her high school sweetheart, Tim Helling, on September 20, 1980 in Dubuque.
Anne’s professional career was marked by her dedication to those she served. She spent the last years of her career as a buyer assistant at Norby’s Distributing, where she worked up to the end. Her true passion was working as a paraprofessional at Resurrection Early Childhood, where she helped nurture and support young children. Many parents will fondly remember how Mrs. Helling loved each child as her own, and she could recount every student she ever worked with, a testament to her commitment and care.
A devoted member of Resurrection Church since 1986, Anne was involved in many aspects of parish life, including the festival, prayer chain, script program, and CEW. Her faith was a central part of who she was, and she found great joy in giving back to her community.
Outside of work and family, Anne had many interests that brought her joy. She loved spending time shopping, reading, crocheting, decorating and attending craft shows. Above all, Anne adored her children and grandchildren, and they were the light of her life. She will be remembered for her ability to make a friend wherever she went. She was accustomed to spending hours sitting with friends, enjoying a diet Pepsi and a piece of pizza or pie.
Anne’s favorite song, “What a Wonderful World,” by Louis Armstrong, captures her optimistic spirit perfectly. In her words: “I see skies of blue, red roses too, and I think to myself, what a wonderful world.”
Anne will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her legacy of love, kindness, and service will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to call her friend, wife, mother, and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, Tim, of Dubuque; three children, Stacie (Matt Michels) Helling of Dubuque, Jamie (Jacob) Lucas of Durango, IA, and Brian (Andrea) Helling of Dubuque; seven grandchildren, Josey, James, Jordyn, Jude, Hadley, Lillian, and Brooks; three brothers-in-law, Robert (Michelle) Helling, Mike Helling, and Mark (Cathy) Helling; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her father-in-law, Robert Helling.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Resurrection Early Childhood Center.
