B. Janette Bader, 97 years 10 months and 9 days, of Scales Mound, IL passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at her home of 73 years on her family farm in Scales Mound, IL, surrounded by her loving family.

Family and friends may call from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at the Miller Funeral Home in East Dubuque, IL, and from 1:30  p.m. until the time of services at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 12, 2024 at the Galena United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Galena.

Janette was born September 29, 1926 at home in Council Hill, the daughter of William and Luetta (Erbe) Kienzle.  She graduated from Galena High School in 1944 and married Earl Bader on February 20, 1949 at the United Methodist Church in Galena, IL.  She worked at Illinois Bell Telephone from 1946-1951 before she and Earl moved to the farm in 1951 where they farmed with her brother Ray Kienzle and his wife Amy for the next 40 years. In 1960, Earl & Janette started Hillview Kennel where they expanded on their love of raising, breeding, and selling puppies until 2009.  Janette enjoyed many trips to Texas and out West with her beloved husband.  After Earl’s passing, Janette enjoyed trips to Hawaii and Alaska.  Janette loved to contribute to her community and to causes close to her heart.  As such, she was active in United Methodist Women, Stepping Stones and a 70 year member of both the Rebekah Lodge and Hills Home Extension.

Up until her very last days, Janette was very involved in the lives of her family.  She enjoyed holiday get-togethers, birthday parties for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and daily visits she received from family. Her love for baking was reflected in all of the wonderful desserts she shared with family and friends. Janette will be greatly missed by us all.

Surviving are her children, Steve (Mary) Bader, Jeff (Darlene) Bader of Scales Mound, IL and Karen Kofoed of Crystal Lake, IL. She was a cherished grandmother to Kara (Ryan) Stadel, Clint (Jessica) Bader, Brent (Shelly) Bader, Tim (Angela Rule) Kaiser, Tamara (Mitch Richardson) Bader, Nathan (Kendra) Bader, Melissa (Dan) Nix, Seth and Rachel Kofoed.  Her legacy continues through her 13 great grandchildren whom she adored.  Janette was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Ray Kienzle and sister Lorraine Busjahn.

Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church in Galena and Hospice of Dubuque.  Our family extends a heartfelt thank you to Jen, Amy, Ryan, Melonie, Becky and Sara of Hospice for the exceptional care given to Janette over the many months under their care.  Your kindness will be forever remembered.  A special thank you to Mindy VanRaalte for her special care and friendship.
