Beverly J. “Bev” (Meyer) Stierman, age 77, of Dubuque, was called home suddenly on Monday, October 22, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque, surrounded by her loving family. To honor Bev’s life, private family services were held, and burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, is in charge of arrangements.

Bev was born on July 26, 1941, in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Delbert and Lenora (Petty) Meyer.

Bev was a proud life-long Dubuquer who was a graduate of Dubuque Senior High School and Capri Cosmetology College. She would put her degree to good use, helping people to look their best, with several salons in the downtown Dubuque area, and most notably with First Lady in the Kennedy Mall, until her retirement. Bev was united in marriage to the love of her life, Dale W. Stierman, on December 13, 1974, in Dubuque, Iowa, and the two would combine their families and enjoy 43 wonderful years together. In her free time, Bev enjoyed the simple things in life, such as jigsaw and crossword puzzles, her one nightly beer, a spirited game of cards, and occasionally going to the casino to try her luck with the penny slots. She was a good sport, and was always willing to accompany Dale out on the river fishing, but really looked forward to their date nights when they would go out to eat and then dance the night away. Above all, family brought Bev the greatest joy, she looked forward to any occasion to get everyone together, especially when the grandchildren and great-grandchildren were involved. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she made it a family tradition to get together all of the grandchildren and bake dozens of cookies to share with friends. She also had a sweet spot in her heart for animals, and was well known for having at least 2 dogs at all times. Our hearts are broken with the sudden loss of our loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, but are extremely grateful for the 77 years we were blessed to have her in our lives.

Bev was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Joshua Reed; 2 sisters, Joan (John “Midge”) Delaney and Ruth Ann Shaw; and 6 brothers-in-law, Mike White, Eldon (Margie) Stierman, LeRoy (Barbara) Stierman, Clyde (Marie) Stierman, Clair (Nadine) Stierman and Cyril Stierman.

Bev’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Cao for all of the outstanding care and support he has provided Bev and her family.

Memorials will be accepted by the family to be distributed among Bev’s favorite charities.
