Blaine J. Dunne, age 62, of Dubuque, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 12, 2024.  To honor Blaine’s life, family and friends may visit from 9:30 a.m., until the time of services 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Nativity Church, 1225 Alta Vista Street.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday at church, with Rev. Stephen Audu officiating.  Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League.  Behr Funeral Home is assisting Blaine’s family.

Blaine was born on June 27, 1962, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of William and Phyllis (Zahina) Dunne.

Blaine attended Holy Ghost Grade School and graduated from Wahlert Catholic High School, Class of 1980.  He joined the U.S. Marines from 1980-1984, serving at 29 Palms in California.  Blaine then attended Construction Apprenticeship School in Seattle, Washington.  In the early 1990’s, he returned to Dubuque and put his knowledge to work for Conlon Construction.  Eventually he contracted with the Carpenter’s Union and would go to work wherever he was needed.  Unfortunately, in 2001, health issues led to his early retirement.  Blaine gave freely of his time, and often volunteered at the Veteran’s Freedom Center.  He was a sports fan and followed NASCAR, UFC and boxing.  Blaine was also an avid fisherman and bowled for many years.  He loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews who affectionately called him “Uncle Cusser”.  Blaine was their biggest cheerleader and a regular at all of their sporting events.  He was famous for his sweet tooth, and everyone made sure to keep him stocked up with fresh baked goodies.  Blaine especially looked forward to his sister Brooke’s cooking.  Blaine will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

Blaine was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; and a twin brother, Brett Dunne.

Blaine’s family would like to thank his many physicians at Medical Associates and the VA Medical Center, his neighbor lady sisters who always watched out for him and made him regular treats, and Blaine’s greatest mentor and cousin, Jim Foust, for his patience, kindness and spirituality.
