Carol McNamer was born November 30, 1936, to Edgbert and Clementine (Bassler) McNamer in Dubuque, IA. She had to grow up rather quickly to help care for her many siblings. She attended Holy Ghost Elementary and Immaculate Conception High School in Dubuque, IA. She worked at the Wheel Inn Drive-In, Anamosa, IA, as one of their first car hops and at the Dubuque Stamp and Manufacturing Company working with a metal press to stamp out parts and then with her husband in his homebuilding business.

The couple did a great deal of camping, hunting & fishing over the years, hauling travel trailers across many states and living in them while they built and sold homes. They lived in Iowa, Illinois, Washington, Idaho & eventually settled in Thompson Falls, Montana. Carol had no problem handling guns and rifles, often shooting some of the biggest game while hunting including a large elk in 1997.

They were blessed with five sons, Joseph Jr, Victor, Phillip, Louis and Douglas and a daughter Mary, a miscarriage at 3 months.

Carol will be remembered as a strong, independent, loving, hardworking woman, soft spoken and as someone who could always find the good in people, having a great impact on many. She was a devout Catholic who attended mass regularly at St. William in Thompson Falls, Montana as well as St. Patrick in Anamosa whenever she visited Iowa.
