Cynthia M. Benhart
Cynthia M. “Cindy” Benhart, 61, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, October 10, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, October 15, 2021, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M., Thursday, October 14, 2021, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa, Iowa.
Cynthia May Stutt was born on October 29, 1959 in Monticello, Iowa, to Leonard Wilbur and Joyce Ellen (Barnes) Stutt. She was a 1978 graduate of Maquoketa High School. She married Larry A. Benhart on February 3, 1979 in Maquoketa, Iowa. A daughter, Heather, was born to this union. “Cindy” and Larry were often always together and inseparable.
“Cindy” had various jobs through the years most notably for WADY Industries in Maquoketa as a saw operator for over 12 years, and for the past 20 years until present at Gasser’s True Value in Maquoketa in customer service where she was known as an expert at making paint.
“Cindy” was a member of First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa. She loved cooking and baking for all, sewing, crocheting, and spending time with friends and family. Most of all, she loved getting to watch her grandchildren participate in school activities.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband of 42 years, Larry Benhart of Maquoketa, IA; a daughter, Heather (Doug) Said of Maquoketa, IA; 4 grandchildren, MacKenzie, Dylan, Beau and Dalton; her father, Leonard Stutt of Maquoketa, IA; a sister, Deb (Bob) Nichols of Bellevue, NE; sisters-in-law, Brenda (Skeeter) Grage of Maquoketa, IA, and Deb Benhart-Putz of Cedar Rapids, IA; brothers-in-law, Brian Benhart of Bettendorf, IA, and Dwain Trenkamp of Peosta, IA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother Joyce Stutt in May of 2020, a great-nephew Anthony Nichols, father-in-law and mother-in-law Melvin “Red” and Betty Benhart, sister-in-law Linda Trenkamp, and a brother-in-law Allen Benhart.
In lieu of ther expressions of sympathy, a Cynthia M. “Cindy” Benhart memorial fund has been established.
