Dale first farmed and worked for the Fish N Tackle Company and Clinton Engines, both in Maquoketa.  He also was a gunsmith and owned a gun shop in Davenport for several years before taking a job doing Tool Analysis with Caterpillar in Mt. Joy.  He retired after 40 years and returned to farming where he kept farming until the age of 89.

Dale was a member of the Christ’s Community Faith Church in Monmouth.  He enjoyed travelling and fishing, however his greatest accomplishment was building his house with his son, Lawrence, whom he was very proud of.
