Daniel T. Burke, 81, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on December 14, 2023, at Stonehill Health Center.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road with a wake service to be at 3:45. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at St. Joseph Key West Church with Fr. Martin Obeng officiating. Additional visitation will be after 9:00 a.m. at the church on Wednesday.  Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Dan was born on December 1, 1942, in Chicago, IL, the son of Carl and Grace (Cashin) Burke. He attended St. Patrick’s elementary school and graduated from Wahlert Catholic High School in 1962. He married Janice Gaul on August 23, 1986.

Dan worked with his dad for three years; he then worked at Roshek’s and Armstrong’s at the Kennedy Mall until 1990. Dan then worked at Myers Cox until his retirement in 2011. Dan was a very hard worker.

He was an avid card player and especially enjoyed playing euchre.

He is survived by his wife Janice; sisters Mary Jo (Ken) O’Hara and Ellen (James) Kaune; brothers Bill (Becky) Burke, Tom (Juanita) Burke, and Joe (Debbie) Burke. Brothers-in-law Alfred and Ron Gaul; sister-in-law Sr. Kay Gaul, OSF; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers John and Dave and sister-in-law Marion Burke. Mother and father-in-law LaVern and Viola Gaul; and brother-in-law Fr. Richard Gaul.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Dubuque, UnityPoint, Finley hospital and Stonehill Communities, and their staff for the helpful care they gave during his time of need.
