Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Holy Family Catholic Church Peosta, Iowa with Rev. Thomas Thole officiating.   Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.

Daniel V Freiburger was born on June 12, 1950, son of John and Helen (Walleser) at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque.  Dan was a member of Holy Family Parish. He attended St. John’s Grade School and graduated from Wahlert High School in 1968.

Dan worked a variety of indoor jobs after graduation, but working indoors was not his “bag”.  He loved being outdoors so construction was his choice.  He worked at Flynn Ready Mix and Tri-State Paving. In 1974 he began working at Dubuque Stone Products in the Quarry as a mechanic and later moved to Dubuque Stone Brick Yard and delivered brick throughout the Tri-States.  Later he worked for River City Paving.   His last job was working on the Dubuque County Roads Dept.  As grader man he took pride in his work and was complimented many times for the job he did.  He retired from Dubuque County at the end of March 2017.  Two weeks later he bought a brane new truck – something he never had.

Dan married Linda Kramer on May 17, 1975, at St. Peter and Paul Church in Sherrill, Iowa.  They had two sons, Peter and Karl and a daughter, Martina.

In their early married life, many weekends were spent at tractor pulls from here to Louisville, Kentucky with lifelong friends.

As the children became older, they enjoyed travels to Canada, Washington DC, Montana, Washington, California, Florida, New Orleans and many more states. Later, venturing out of the country to Mexico destinations with friends.  Never a dull moment when Dan was along.  Always a story to tell. Some of his best memories were road-trips with friends, work buddies and trips to Montana with his Walleser uncles and cousins.

A daily ritual for Dan and Linda was taking Rosie for a run through the pasture, while they followed in the side by side with Husey.

Dan is survived by his wife Linda, son Peter Freiburger of Dubuque, IA; daughter Martina Freiburger of Monticello, IA; and his three granddaughters Adaline, Cecilia and Lillian Freiburger whom he cherished more than anything in the world.

Also surviving are his sisters and brother-in-laws Joan (Joe) Harter, Connie Pottebaum, Anita (Gerald) McDermott, and sister-in-law Janice Freiburger.  Other surviving sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law are Sue (Dan) Habel, Tom (Sharon) Kramer, Mary Jane Kramer, Kelly (Bill) Kauffmann, and Russ Nauman.  Lastly, his comfort puppy, Husey, who was left to him at the passing of son Karl on September 26, 2021.

He is preceded in death by his son, Karl Freiburger, parents John and Helen Freiburger, a brother John Freiburger, in-laws Delbert and Joyce Kramer, Godchild, Jamie Pottebaum and sister-in-law Diane Nauman.
