Daniel W. Porter, 72, of Monticello passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024, at his home.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello where a memorial service will follow at Noon.  Entombment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Monticello. 

Dan was born on Oct. 30, 1951, in Wadena, MN, the son of Dorance and Velma (Bensley) Porter.  The family moved to Hopkinton, Iowa in his early years.  He attended Maquoketa Valley High School where he met Starr Wroblewski.  They married on December 1, 1973.   He worked at Harnischfegr, then he assisted John Leytem on the farm for several years and transitioned to Orbis Manufacturing. He finally retired in 2014.  He loved to go hunting, fishing, and riding his motor toys.  He loved raising birds and dogs and spending time with his granddaughters.

Survivors include his children: Troy (Christine) Porter of Viroqua, WI, Brian Porter and Sara Porter (Joe Krapfl), both of Monticello; grandchildren: Haley, Madelynne, Cammile Porter and Emma, Lily, and Chloe Porter; siblings: David Porter and Daryl (Deb) Porter, both of Monticello; in-laws: Sharon Porter of Freeport, IL, and David (Cindy) Wroblewski of Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Starr in 2018, siblings: Milton and Robert Porter and in-laws, Shirley Porter and Steve Wroblewski.
