David Alan Ryder, 65, of Asbury IA. passed away on Wednesday April 24, 2024 at UPH Finley Hospital.

Visitation will be on Monday April 29, 2024 from 9:00 am until 11:00am at Egelhof, Siegert, &  Casper Funeral Home and crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road. A funeral service will follow visitation at 11:00am with Pastor Tom Shinkle officiating.

David was born on December 7, 1958, Albion, Michigan, the son of Wendell and Mary (Newberry) Ryder. Later his family moved to Dubuque, IA., where Dave attended Irving Elementary school. He graduated from Hempstead High School in 1977 and from there he attended Iowa State University earning a degree in Horticulture. Through the years, Dave had many jobs. Towards the end of his working years, he worked as an assistant manager at Lowes Home Improvement and at East Dubuque nitrogen before retiring.

Dave was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed fishing, playing the slot machines, and running with his dogs, Oakley and Gracie. Most of all, Dave loved to socialize. There wasn’t a person he wouldn’t stop and spend time talking with, even if he didn’t know them.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon, his children, Jennifer (Luke) Ryder and Emma (Kaleb) Ryder, his mother, Mary Catherine Ryder, siblings Jordan (Sally) Ryder of Eugene, Ore., Jeffry (Sharon) Ryder of North Liberty, IA., and Mary (Stan) Kraemer of Burley, Idaho., and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wendell Ryder.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family of David.
