Debra S. Greenwood-Halstead, age 57, of Dubuque, passed away at 7:18p.m., on Monday, August 19, 2024, at University of Iowa Hospitals.  To honor Debra’s life, family and friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, Dubuque.  Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday at Behr’s, with Deacon David Roth officiating.  Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Debbie was born on May 14, 1967, in Dubuque, daughter of William and JoAnn Lee (Bell) Greenwood. She was raised by her mother and step-father, JoAnn and Lloyd P. Schmitt.

Debbie attended school in Dubuque and graduated form Dubuque Senior High School in 1986.

She was an incredible spouse to Robert B. Halstead, Jr. for nearly 39 years and a wonderful mother to their two daughters, Jennifer and Deanna.  Debbie was a full time homemaker and her greatest joy was taking care of her family 24/7.

Prior to COVID, Debbie was an avid Bingo player at Dubuque’s many churches and enjoyed trying her luck at the casinos with her sisters.  In her younger years, before their daughters came along, she very much enjoyed fishing. Debbie was a fan of a good horror movie, especially anything with a Dracula storyline.  She enjoyed taking rides in the car.  A short ride or a long ride didn’t seem to matter to her, but some rides that started short at times ended in multi-day mini vacations to visit family. Debbie has always been a lover of all animals great and small and looked forward to any trips to a zoo or aquarium. Her dog Blondie was always faithfully by her side.  Debbie was an amazing lady who will be missed by all who knew her.

Debbie was preceded in death by her father, William Greenwood; and her father and mother-in-law, Robert and Penny Halstead, Sr.

Debbie’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Grand River Medical Center, UnityPoint Finley Hospital and the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for all of the tremendous care and support they extended to her and her family.
