Delores D. Manning
Delores D. Manning, 77, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on October 5, 2023. She was born on March 21, 1946, in Jackson County, IA, to Ival Edgar and Helen Rose (Weets) Dague.
Delores spent her early years in Jackson County, attending country school before graduating from Andrew High School in 1964. She married the love of her life, Darrell Otto Manning, on December 22, 1963, in Andrew, Iowa. This union was blessed with two daughters, Donna and Debra, who Delores cherished immensely.
Throughout her life, Delores held various roles that showcased her nurturing spirit. She was a dedicated mother and housewife, always providing a loving and supportive environment for her family. She also worked for Dr. Sturtz at Maquoketa Veterinary Clinic for several years, extending her care towards animals. Later, she served as a paraeducator at Cardinal Elementary School in Maquoketa, helping shape the minds of young children. In her later years, she dedicated her days to watching her young grandchildren.
Delores was a woman of deep faith and was a member of Faith Community Church in Maquoketa, where she once served on the Deaconess board. She had also been a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Andrew. Her faith-filled life was an inspiration to all who knew her, and she lived out her beliefs in her daily actions and interactions.
In her spare time, Delores enjoyed reading and playing cards, with Euchre being her game of choice. She also loved having marathon lunch outings with her friends, creating memories filled with laughter and joy. However, her most treasured moments were those spent with her family. Delores was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother, cherishing every moment she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Delores leaves behind a loving family that includes her two daughters, Donna (Joe) Collins of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Debbie (Brian) Aunan of Maquoketa, IA; six grandchildren, Landon (significant other Ally Hourigan) Aunan, River Dunne, Lincoln (Natalie) Aunan, Willow (significant other Daniel Deckert) Dunne, Liam (significant other Anna Bendixen) Aunan, John Aunan; Andy Ahrens, whom she loved like a grandson; and one great-grandchild, Callan Aunan. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Shirley Dague of Maquoketa, IA; and Barbara Dague of Dubuque, IA; brother-in-law, Robert Adney of Maquoketa, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Darrell on June 12, 1993, brothers Wayne, Ross, and Darrell, and a sister Ella Adney. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her, leaving a legacy of love and faith that will continue to inspire future generations.
A celebration of her life will be held at 12 P.M., Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Faith Community Church in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:30 A.M. until Noon at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded, and a private family burial will be held at the Andrew, Iowa Cemetery.
