Delphine Dolter, 94, of Dubuque, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Luther Manor.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 18, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. Rev. Paul Attah-Nsiah will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, March 17, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3860 Asbury Rd., Dubuque, where there will be a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.

Delphine was born November 8, 1924 in Balltown, the daughter of Herbert and Ernestine (Haberkorn) Klein. She met Richard A. Dolter at Melody Mill dance hall, and she married him on February 10, 1945 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on February 14, 2008.

Delphine was a longtime member of Catholic Daughters. She was a member of TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) for 50 years, serving as President, and rarely missing a meeting. Delphine was a devoted mother to her seven children, who will remember what an excellent cook and baker she was. Once her children were in school, she worked at several local retail stores and school kitchens. Delphine was very talented at sewing, knitting (even teaching knitting at NICC and Washington School), crafting, and crocheting. Win or lose, Delphine was an avid Cubs fan for over 40 years. Going out to eat with friends was another favorite activity.

Delphine is survived by her children, Dick D. Dolter of Dubuque, Lynette (Tom) Howe of Dubuque, Suzanne (Michael) Muir of Durango, Daniel (Cheryl) Dolter of Dubuque, Mark (Jackie) Dolter of Cedar Rapids, Paula (Tom) Giese of Dubuque, and Andy (Terrie) Dolter of Dubuque; 18 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; her sister Roseanne (Floyd) Hammel of Sherrill; her brother Norbert A. Klein of Westminster, CO; and her sisters in law Darlene Klein of Sherrill, Judy Dolter of Dubuque, and Betty Dolter of Dubuque.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers George, Don (Ann), and Richard (in infancy) Klein.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Dubuque or St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Dubuque and the staff at Luther Manor for their loving care of Delphine.
