Burial with military honors will be in the St. Andrew Cemetery, Tennyson. Friends and family may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 26, 2018 at the Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Potosi, and on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

His parents, Eugene F. and Jean (Patterson) Sheehan, welcomed dad into the world on October 21, 1941. Dad spent his early life exploring the hills and valleys of Millville. He attended attended Potosi High School. Dad joined the U.S. Army on January 7, 1959. He went to Jump School and completed 26 jumps before being honorably discharged on December 31, 1964. After the Army, he went on to race stockcars with his buddies, the Valentine brothers. Dad competed in hundreds of Hillclimbs, along with the Wilwert family. However, it was the outdoors in which he would eventually spend millions of hours hunting and fishing.

Dad married Mom, Beth Maahs, on October 2, 1976. He worked way too many years at what was once the Dubuque Pack, but was lucky enough to work at Wilwert Golf Carts until his retirement. Dad always had a story to tell. If Dad taught us one thing, it was to live life to the fullest, go on adventures, and take that risk.

The “Old Man” will be forever missed by his wife, Beth; his daughter, Jodi Shemak; his son, Eugene “Bear” Sheehan; three two-legged grandchildren: Lane, Bekka, and Kaydee Shemak; three four-legged grandchildren: Scrappy, X, and Finn; a son-in-law, Tim Shemak; a sister-in-law, Nancy Muench; a cousin, Irma Lucid, and many extended family and friends.

While we cry for him, we are comforted knowing he has been reunited with his “Little Buddy” Terry Valentine.

In lieu of plants and flowers a Dennis M. “Denny” Sheehan Memorial Fund has been established. The Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory of Potosi is entrusted with his services.
