Donald “Don” L. Even, 89, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away August 8, 2025, at MercyOne Dubuque.

Friends and family may visit from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd; with a wake service to begin at 2:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at the Church of the Resurrection, with the Very Rev. Phillip Gibbs officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.

Don was born May 28,1936 in Bellevue, Iowa, the son of Leo and Loretta (Herrig) Even. He served in the United States Army from 1958 to1960 and married Sharon Goffinet September 19, 1959, at St. Joseph Church in Bellevue, Iowa. Don worked as a Plant Manager at Ensign Corporation for 44 years until his retirement in 2004.

He was on the Jackson County Board of Education, a member of both Bellevue Jaycees, and the Bellevue Golf Club and served on its Board of Directors.

Don was a die-hard Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye fan. He coached little league, was a bowler, and an avid golfer. He was inducted into the Eastern Iowa Golf Association Hall of Fame in 2002. Don always looked forward to the giant hearts card game with his sibling and in-laws. He most enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Sharon; his sons Danny (Jean) Even, Dennis (Michele) Even, Doug (Lori) Even; daughter- in-law Kim Even; grandchildren Mitchell, Collin, Ryan, Sydney and Addison; great grandchildren Ella, Grayson, Cooper, and Callum; siblings Larry (Joyce) Even and Diane Murray; siblings-in-law Patricia Even, and Ted (Andrea) Goffinet.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law Ted and Alberta Goffinet, son Rick Even, siblings Mary Jane (Kenny) Harris, and Clyde Even, siblings-in-law Shirley (Chuck) O’Neill, Sharlene (John) Runde, and Tom Murray.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
