Donna Krug

Donna Krug, age 76, of Dubuque, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family.  To celebrate Donna’s life, family and friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, where there will be a parish scripture service held at 5:30 p.m.  Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at the Church of the Resurrection, 4300 Asbury Road, with Rev. Phillip G. Gibbs officiating.  Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Donna was born on October 23, 1948, in Dubuque, the daughter of Peter and Stella (Ruden) Krug.

Donna was always a hard worker.  She worked at Woolworth from March of 1980 until December of 1993.  She then went to work for Walmart until her retirement in March of 2025.  Donna was a faith-filled woman who was a devoted member of the Church of the Resurrection.  She volunteered working on the Resurrection Capital Campaigns, the parish festival, and coordinated Bingo.  In her free time, Donna enjoyed watching HGTV and tending to her flower gardens.  She also enjoyed going to plays at Bell Tower Theater and trips to the Wisconsin Dells for shopping and concerts.  Donna delighted in her family and made sure everyone knew how special and loved they were.

Rhonda Switzer, Ronald (Suzanne) Krug, James (Stacy) Krug, Beth Duncan, Patty Kluesner, David (Tammy) Kluesner, Mike (Marce) Kluesner, Karen (Jay) Lease, Jackie (Scott) Bamberg, Becky (Kevin) Bergfeld, Kim (Brian Strang) Kluesner Harkey, James (Heather) Kluesner, Todd (Laura) Kluesner, Jodi (Ben) Simon, Kizzy (Mike Vaupel) Kluesner Gaul, Shannon (Gary) Givens and Tammy Krug;

and several great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Stella Krug; 2 brothers, James Krug in infancy and Donald Krug; a sister, Joan Krug; her grandparents, Mike and Catherine Ruden and John and Mary Krug; a niece, Cynthia Krug; 4 nephews, Robert Kluesner, Gerald Kluesner, Richard Duncan and Todd Switzer; 3 great-nephews, Carson Krug, Mitchell Kluesner and Michael Harkey; 2 great-nieces, Christian Kluesner and Kylie Bricker; and a great-great-nephew, Tate Rupe.

Donna’s family would like to thank Dr. Christian Schultheis who first treated Donna in 2007, and Dr. Eric Engelman and Tami Noonan who took over Donna’s care in 2018, and their nurses.  We want to thank you for your compassionate care for Donna.  A special thank you to Hospice of Dubuque for your care and compassion.  We also want to thank the Church of the Resurrection Parish, Father Phillip Gibbs, Deacon Mike Ellis, Deacon Jim Schmidt, and Mary Schmidt for their care and concern for Donna and her family and walking with us on this journey.
