Dubuque Expands Access to Electrophysiology Care with New Clinic
UnityPoint Clini
c – Dubuque has expanded access to specialty cardiac care with a new monthly electrophysiology clinic in Dubuque which began on June 26.
The clinic is led by Tyler Rasmussen, MD, PhD, electrophysiologist with UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Heart Care Clinic in Cedar Rapids, and is located within UnityPoint Clinic Cardiology – Dubuque. The service provides patients with local access to consultations and pre- and post-procedure care for heart rhythm disorders.
“This clinic strengthens our ability to provide coordinated electrophysiology care in Eastern Iowa,” said Dr. Rasmussen. “By bringing consultations and follow-up care to Dubuque, we can improve access for patients while maintaining a seamless pathway to advanced procedures when needed.”
Electrophysiology focuses on diagnosing and treating heart rhythm disorders, including atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, bradycardia, and other abnormal heart rhythms. Patients experiencing symptoms such as palpitations, dizziness, fainting, or irregular heartbeat should consult their primary care provider or cardiologist to determine whether a referral is appropriate.
“Expanding specialty care in Dubuque reflects our commitment to improving access and keeping care close to home whenever possible,” said Jennifer Havens, president of UnityPoint Health – Dubuque. “Patients will now receive expert electrophysiology care locally while remaining fully connected to advanced procedural services.”
The clinic will operate one day per month. All electrophysiology procedures, including ablations and device implantation, will continue to be performed at UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Patients should talk with their primary care provider or cardiologist about whether an electrophysiology consultation is right for them.
