Edward R. Burroughs

Edward R. “Butch” Burroughs, 52, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 15, 2018, at his home in Maquoketa, Iowa.
A public graveside service and burial will be held at 1 P.M., Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Smithtown Cemetery, rural Lost Nation, Iowa. There is no public visitation. Cremation rites will be accorded. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.
Edward Ray Burroughs was born on June 14, 1966 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to KennyRay and Nancy Jo (Current) Burroughs. He was a 1985 graduate of Maquoketa High School and then received his Associates Degree from Kirkwood Community College. He married Tara Wells on September 22, 2007 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. To this union a child was born, Brooklynn.
Through the years “Butch” had worked various jobs including at Younkers, for the State of Iowa, Sam’s Club in Cedar Rapids, and for the past ten years at Home Depot in the Human Resources Department.
“Butch” enjoyed Penn State football, watching Indy car racing, fishing, cooking with his smoker, bird watching, and restoring lawn tractors.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Tara Burroughs of Maquoketa, IA; daughter, Brooklynn Burroughs of Maquoketa, IA; his mother and step-father, Nancy and Bill Ruff of St. Peters, MO; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and his father.
